Episode 7 recap: Jiang Xue Ning received Shen Zhi Yi's pity.
Xie Wei looked at the sword hanging around his neck without any panic. Instead, he questioned Gong Yi Cheng, asking why he used the name of the prince to target him everywhere. As he spoke, he took out the token and warned Gong Yi Cheng that this was his territory. If Gong Yi Cheng dared to make trouble again, he shouldn't blame him for being impolite. Seeing Xie Wei still being so arrogant even at the face of death, Gong Yi Cheng ordered to get rid of him. Just as the sword was about to reach his neck, the Book of Swords appeared out of nowhere, placing the sword on Gong Yi Cheng's neck. Helpless, Gong Yi Cheng had no choice but to let Xie Wei leave. Xie Wei took advantage of the situation and shifted the blame for the incomplete mission onto him.
Back at the residence, Xie Wei's subordinate, Dao Qin, reported a piece of news to him. It turned out that a silk merchant ship of the Xue family had encountered an accident at sea, and all the silk on the ship had sunk to the bottom of the sea. Upon hearing this news, Xie Wei realized that the price of silk would rise soon. He immediately instructed Jian Shu to purchase more. However, Jian Shu returned and informed him that someone had already known about this news and had approached the silk merchant, Mr. Xu. Although Mr. Xu still had some goods on hand, he was not willing to sell them too cheaply, so Xie Wei had to buy them at a higher price than the market value.
After listening to Jian Shu's report, Xie Wei found it somewhat strange and asked him to investigate who the person buying the silk was. He also instructed Dao Qin to find out the cause of the Xue family's shipwreck. Jian Shu discovered a person named You Fang Yin who had interacted with Jiang Xue Ning in the past, while Dao Qin found out that the reason for the sinking of the Xue family's ship was that someone intentionally sabotaged it to drive up the price of silk. Since the Xue family was illegally profiting from the transportation of silk, Xie Wei saw this as an opportunity to trouble them. When the Xue family was about to take action against the saboteur, Dao Qin saved the person. As the Ministry of Justice had made no progress in investigating the relationship between the Yan family and the rebel faction, Xie Wei decided to give Chen Da Ren an opportunity to make achievements. He had Dao Qin secretly deliver the evidence to the Ministry of Justice. After completing these tasks, he went to the palace to teach Shen Zhi Yi and others.
Yao Xi came to Jiang Xue Ning with a letter. After reading the letter, Jiang Xue Ning learned that Zhang Zhe voluntarily called off their engagement. It was because Jiang Xue Ning had previously said that if she didn't agree to the marriage, she could wait at home. Unexpectedly, Jiang Xue Ning's words came true, which made her suspect that Jiang Xue Ning and Zhang Zhe had a pre-existing relationship. Upon hearing Yao Xi's words, Jiang Xue Ning realized that she would never have a chance with Zhang Zhe in this lifetime. She praised Zhang Zhe as a good person and urged Yao Xi to seize this opportunity. Grateful for Jiang Xue Ning's concern, Yao Xi immediately wrote a letter to her father, asking him not to agree to Zhang Zhe's withdrawal from the marriage.
After seeing off Yao Xi, Jiang Xue Ning went to the palace for her classes. She noticed that Xue Shu and others were all bringing gifts for Shen Zhi Yi. Feeling unsure of what to do, Xue Shu once again directed her criticism towards Jiang Xue Ning. Jiang Xue Ning calmly admitted that she hadn't brought any gifts for Shen Zhi Yi. The onlookers gloated, expecting Shen Zhi Yi to reprimand her. However, to their surprise, Shen Zhi Yi took Jiang Xue Ning's hand and sympathetically told her that she understood her situation. Shen Zhi Yi was already happy that Jiang Xue Ning came to accompany her in studying. It turned out that Shen Zhi Yi had already learned about Jiang Xue Ning and Jiang Xue Hui from Yan Lin, and she also felt unfairness for Jiang Xue Ning.
Shen Zhi Yi entered the classroom and saw that Jiang Xue Ning was sitting at the back row. She held Jiang Xue Ning's hand and brought her to the front row, asking Xue Shu to give up her seat for Jiang Xue Ning. A young lady named Bao Ling quickly gave up her seat for Xue Shu, and Xue Shu then asked You Yue to sit in the back row, giving her seat to Bao Ling. You Yue pouted in anger.
During the class, Jiang Xue Ning noticed that Xie Wei was giving Xue Shu a hard time and using her as a scapegoat. She knew that Xie Wei was doing it for the Yan family, so she stood up and followed his instructions. After the class, Xie Wei asked Jiang Xue Ning in a somewhat curious manner how she knew about the silk price increase. Jiang Xue Ning explained that she had made the prediction based on the principle of "what goes up must come down."
Upon returning from the palace, Jian Shu excitedly rushed in and told Xie Wei some good news: the price of silk had skyrocketed. Now they could make a huge profit.
