Joy of Life Season 2

Plot Synopsis

The storyline continues from the first season, with Fan Xian (played by Zhang Ruoyun) using a staged death to break the situation after the Battle of Dadian Mountain. He engages in a final battle with Emperor Qing (played by Chen Daoming) and supports the ThirdPrince (played by Wang Yibo) to ascend the throne before retiring to Jiangnan.

With the helpof Fan Ruoruo's (played by Li Qin) medical skills and Haitang Duoduo's (played by Guo Qilin) mechanisms, Fan Xian successfully fakes his death and evades Emperor Qing'spursuit. He then returns to the capital and discovers that Emperor Qing has seized completepower, with the CrownPrince and SecondPrince imprisoned. Fan Xian decides to engage in a life-or-death battle with Emperor Qing toprotect his loved ones and the country. He joins forces with Qiu Fuyang, Wang Shisanlang, Yingzi, and Wuzhu, using various strategies and weapons to successfully assassinate Emperor Qing. In theprocess, he also reveals Emperor Qing's true identity as the son of the hostage from Jing Kingdom, who is Fan Xian's older brother.

After assassinating Emperor Qing, Fan Xian does not ascend the throne himself but supports the ThirdPrince to become the ruler. The ThirdPrince is his good friend and known for his gentle and kind nature. Fan Xian believes that the ThirdPrince can govethe country and bring happiness andpeace to thepeople. He entrusts all his wealth andpower to the ThirdPrince, keeping only a Four Directions Sword for himself.

In the end, Fan Xian fulfills his mission and chooses to retire in Jiangnan, leading apeaceful life with Fan Ruoruo, Haitang Duoduo, Ye Ling'er, and Yigui Concubine. He frequently gathers withPrincess Li Yunrui, Lin Wan'er, Wang Shisanlang, and others to share their stories. He enjoys the remaining years in his own way. This sequel continues the brilliance of the first season and continues to narrate the legendary life of Fan Xian.

In May 2023,producer Hu Bo revealed that "Joy of Life 2" would start filming in early May. On May 10th, the series released a special feature and characterposters to commemorate the start ofproduction. On June 19th, the drama unveiled aposter showcasing the cast lineup. On July 9th, the series released its first set of official stillphotos. On August 17th, a newpromotional image of Zhang Ruoyun in "Joy of Life 2" was released, showing Fan Xian sitting in a wheelchair similar to ChenPingPing's. On September 4th, the series released its first official trailer.
