Episode 17 recap: Lian Man Er's uncle holds an official position.

Lian Ye Er was devastated when even their own mother didn't want them anymore. Shi San learned about this and came to comfort Lian Ye Er, sharing their own childhood experiences and encouraging Lian Ye Er to live for themselves. Lian Man Er and Shen Nuo came here to look at a shop, hoping to expand their business, but they didn't have any money at the moment. They could only make an agreement with the owner to reserve the shop for three days until they gathered enough money to buy it.

Lian Man Er's money was stolen by Second Aunt, so they couldn't pay the people in the village. Old Third and Old Fourth from the village came to collect debts, and Lian Man Er pretended to go with them but actually ran away with Shen Nuo. It was only after they ran far away that they realized they were holding hands, and it became a bit awkward for a moment.

When Lian Man Er returned, they saw Shi San teaching Lian Hua Er how to write, and Lian Man Er thought that something was going on between Shi San and Lian Ye Er. Shen Nuo thought it was unlikely. Shen Nuo asked Shi San if they liked Lian Ye Er, but Shi San denied it, which relieved Shen Nuo.

Shi San felt that if Shen Nuo could like Lian Man Er, then why couldn't they like Lian Ye Er. Shen Nuo was very frustrated and didn't know what to say. Shi San said that if they really got together with Lian Ye Er, then Shen Nuo would have to call them "brother-in-law," and they felt that the relationship would become quite complicated.

Unexpectedly, their uncle and the others ran away with the money given by Second Aunt. Now there was no way to rescue their second uncle, and Second Aunt was extremely frustrated, crying and making a scene at home. Lian Man Er's grandfather asked Lian Man Er's father to go to the town to look for their uncle and the others, and Lian Man Er came along with his father.

They searched for a long time in the town but couldn't find their uncle and the others, so they went to the Song family to find Lian Hua Er. Lian Hua Er knew that their parents had spent all the money and couldn't rescue their second uncle, so they had to hide.

Lian Hua Er was worried that Lian Man Er would make a big fuss out of this matter, which could affect their position in the Song family. They had to use their own money to fill the gap and asked Lian Man Er not to talk about it.

Lian Man Er finally managed to find their uncle and brought him back home. Their second uncle returned, and it turned out that he only needed to be held for a few days and didn't require any money for arrangements. After their second uncle returned, their uncle disregarded their brotherly bond. He expressed that he had worked hard studying for many years just to become an official, otherwise he wouldn't have sent his daughter to the Song family.

The constables brought news that their uncle had become the head clerk. It turned out that the previous head clerk had resigned due to illness, and now their uncle needed to assume the position immediately. Their second uncle and Second Aunt were initially criticizing their uncle, but as soon as they heard that he had become an official, their attitude immediately changed. Their uncle didn't want to take them all away and advised Lian Man Er's grandmother to stay here. He mentioned that now that he had become an official, it would be more convenient for him to arrange a marriage for Lian Xiu Er.

Lian Man Er's grandmother found his words reasonable and agreed. When their second uncle and Second Aunt heard that their uncle didn't want to take them, they confronted him overnight. Their uncle had no choice but to give them some money. Second Aunt, knowing about their uncle's official position, was also very happy and came to Lian Hua Er, asking them to help them more in the future.

Lian Hua Er had worked hard to secure an official position for their uncle through Song Jia, but hearing their mother's words made them feel somewhat disheartened. Lian Hua Er learned that Lian Man Er wanted to open a shop and suggested that they and their husband also open one. This way, they would have their own livelihood, and the people from the Song family would no longer look down on them.

Old Third and Old Fourth came to ask Lian Man Er for their debt, and Shen Nuo helped resolve the matter. Old Third and Old Fourth were also very happy and said they would treat them to drinks.
