Episode 20 recap: Lian Man Er's restaurant reopened.
Lian Hua Er was very worried and wanted to go and see if Awang had really left. Awang also knew about the reward offered by Lian Man Er and felt that the money Lian Hua Er had given him before was too little. Lian Hua Er had no choice but to promise to give him more money.Shen Nuo asked Shi San to intercept Awang and find out from him if Lian Hua Er had asked him to poison the food. They handed Awang over to the fourth son of the Song family. Lian Hua Er waited for a long time but Awang never showed up, which surprised him greatly. Lian Hua Er returned home, where the fourth son of the Song family was waiting for him, asking why he had done such a thing.
Lian Hua Er explained that he had done all this for him. He wanted to give them a business opportunity and earn respect from their family. But when Lian Man Er came and took over the business, he felt he had to do something. The fourth son of the Song family said he had never asked Lian Hua Er to do any of this and was very disappointed in him.
The fourth son of the Song family came to find Lian Man Er and expressed that everything he did was for her. He said that he was her husband and if he did something wrong, it meant she did something wrong too. He pointed out that Lian Man Er didn't report Awang to the authorities but handed him over to him, which showed that she still cared about their sisterhood.
The fourth son of the Song family promised to resolve the situation and reopen Lian Man Er's restaurant. Lian Man Er remarked that the fourth son of the Song family didn't have much influence in the Song family, but he mentioned that there was someone who could help. The fourth son of the Song family went to find the eldest son of the Song family, but he was unwilling to assist.
The fourth son of the Song family revealed the eldest son's involvement in smuggling private salt. The eldest son of the Song family had no choice but to agree to help. Lian Hua Er packed up her things and prepared to leave. The fourth son of the Song family said he never intended to drive Lian Hua Er away. As long as she realized her mistake, it would be enough.
Lian Hua Er was moved by his words. Lian Man Er's restaurant reopened, and when Shen Nuo returned, she initially thought business was poor and tried to comfort Lian Man Er. However, she soon realized that business was actually too good and they had to close early. General Wu learned that the person behind the plot against Lian Man Er was the fourth wife of the Song family and that the Song family had resolved the situation. He recognized Shen Nuo's abilities and agreed to let her join Jinyang Trading Company.
Shen Nuo and Shi San attended the gathering together and discovered that the eldest son of the Song family was not well-received in the trading guild due to losing the account book. Shen Nuo couldn't figure out who the new distributor might be and decided to observe further. General Wu introduced Shen Nuo to everyone and had them play a guessing game. Shen Nuo managed to guess correctly, and General Wu didn't continue the game, instead treating everyone to tea. Shen Nuo noticed that the tea served to Boss Cao and everyone else was different, which made Boss Cao very happy. Shen Nuo suspected that Boss Cao might be the new distributor but decided to continue observing. She noticed Boss Cao's fondness for birds and purposely gifted him a rare and precious bird, which indeed made Boss Cao very happy and he invited Shen Nuo to play daban balls together.
Liu Fu Gui encountered Lian Xiu Er on the street, and Lian Xiu Er believed that she would become a noble lady in the future. However, she became angry when a fortune teller told her that it was not her fate. Liu Fu Gui took an interest in Lian Xiu Er and approached her to console her.
Lian Xiu Er mentioned that her eldest brother was a chief clerk. Liu Fu Gui called Lian Man Er's uncle and expressed his desire for Lian Xiu Er to become his concubine. Lian Man Er's uncle felt unable to refuse and reluctantly agreed. Lian Man Er's uncle returned home and informed the family that they would marry Lian Xiu Er to Liu Fu Gui's son. Lian Man Er's grandmother and others saw it as a good match and agreed to the arrangement.
Lian Man Er learned about this and asked Shi San about it. She discovered that Liu Fu Gui didn't actually have a son, which made her suspicious about the marriage arrangement.
I still think it would be better if the male lead was also a player, so that they would have different quests and fall in love with each other while completing missions together, and then return to reality together.
Currently, the screenwriter has made their storylines not intersect, giving a feeling that they are each doing their own thing. The personalities of the male and female leads are actually quite good, but the director and screenwriter didn't do a good job in terms of the plot.
Lian Ye Er is actually a very brave person. Her introduction and the first few episodes portrayed her as a background character who was ignored, bullied, and kept to herself, thinking she was just a supporting role without any individuality or attention in traditional stories.
Who would have thought that when her moments arrived, she would become such a shining character? Although she is slow to warm up,
Why does Lianhua, despite all the bad things she has done, have a love-struck husband cleaning up her messes for her?! And Xiaogu is going to marry an old man as a concubine. It's not that I'm advocating for Xiaogu, but compared to Lianhua, she's not as bad.
Xiaogu caused Xiaoba's death and is marrying an old man; that could be considered her retribution. But what about Lianhua? She gets away with everything?
If this were a drama with a strong female lead, it would probably have gained thousands of views within a minute. Unfortunately, if it weren't for the attractiveness of the actors, this drama would probably be a flop. So far, there hasn't been a single thing that the female lead has independently resolved, and she lacks the necessary ruthlessness when needed and the required tolerance when necessary.
Can the screenwriters please, please come up with stories where the female lead can handle things on her own? After so many years, it's time to change the formula.
After watching so much, I have one question: Is there something wrong with the character design of the female lead? Can't she worry less? Just when those two finally face some consequences, she has to showcase her kindness and family bonds?
I just don't understand. Did Xiao Baibai die?
This drama is not normal, it's just too off.
Why would a grand imperial uncle need to go undercover among the poor to investigate a case? And he only brought one person as backup? Moreover, later on, he even exposed the identity of the person who was supposed to provide backup by turning Shi San from a hidden piece into an openly visible chess piece.
If the intention was to avoid exposing their identities by bringing just one person, then revealing Shi San was the biggest loophole. Others may not discover Shen Nuo's true identity, but investigating Shi San would expose all the flaws.
Furthermore, during secret meetings with others, most people attend alone, but he brings along Shi San. Doesn't he find it conspicuous?
