Episode 33 recap: What is sacrifice?
Mi Lan was accompanying Miao Miao at home, painting, when Lin Lu Xiao called and informed her about the sacrifice of Yu Qi Lei. She immediately felt weak and didn't know how to break the news to Miao Miao. Yu Qi Lei's sacrifice cast a dark cloud over the special operations team, and everyone was immersed in the pain of losing a comrade, unsure of how to cope.
Qi Huo and the others trained relentlessly, missing Yu Qi Lei. Liu Ru Yi sat on the rooftop, crying as he looked at the fading words in the farewell letter left by Yu Qi Lei. Every time, Liu Ru Yi asked Yu Qi Lei to write a farewell letter for him. He had prepared a pen for Yu Qi Lei, but before he could give it to him, Yu Qi Lei sacrificed himself. Liu Ru Yi couldn't accept it.
Lin Lu Xiao was playing the stick stacking game at the supply station, missing Yu Qi Lei who sacrificed himself to save Chen Yi Long. Lin Lu Xiao said that in all his years of work, Yu Qi Lei had never made a mistake in dismantling a brick. He couldn't accept Yu Qi Lei's sacrifice.
Mi Lan and the others arrived at the station, and Miao Miao asked Lin Lu Xiao in confusion about what had happened to Yu Qi Lei, what "not here" meant exactly. Lin Lu Xiao told Miao Miao that "not here" meant sacrifice, but the young Miao Miao couldn't fully grasp the concept. Mi Lan then asked Lin Lu Xiao to take them to the place where Yu Qi Lei sacrificed himself.
At the scene of the accident, many people came to pay tribute to the sacrificed hero, Yu Qi Lei, by bringing flowers. Miao Miao began to understand the meaning of sacrifice when she saw everything in front of her, and at that moment, she missed Yu Qi Lei deeply. Mi Lan couldn't comfort Miao Miao; she could only cry with her and ask Miao Miao to read the composition she had written for Yu Qi Lei at the scene.
Nan Chu messaged Lin Lu Xiao to inquire about the mission's situation but didn't receive a reply. He then learned from Xi Gu that Yu Qi Lei had sacrificed himself. Yu Qi Lei was Lin Lu Xiao's best friend, and Nan Chu was worried about him. Despite Shen Guang Zong's opposition, Nan Chu insisted on going to the scene to accompany Lin Lu Xiao and pay respects to the fallen Yu Qi Lei.
Miao Miao read aloud the composition she had written, expressing her longing for Yu Qi Lei. The comrades at the special operations team commemorated the hero in their own ways, paying the highest tribute to him. Nan Chu rushed over regardless of everything, wanting to express his condolences to Mi Lan and Miao Miao. However, unexpectedly, journalists followed them to the scene and took pictures. Lin Lu Xiao could only ask Nan Chu to leave first, not wanting to make the situation more embarrassing.
Lou Ming Ye and Lin Lu Xiao were arranging how to settle Yu Qi Lei's family and handle the aftermath the next day when Hu Ming Yang called to inform them that Lei Da Gang had been arrested for fighting.
Lin Lu Xiao learned about the situation and immediately went to the police station to request a meeting with Lei Da Gang to understand the circumstances.
Due to Yu Qi Lei's death, Lei Da Gang was filled with grief and had consumed quite a bit of alcohol. Just then, at the hospital, he overheard Chen Yi Long's incoherent ramblings, which he couldn't tolerate, and ended up hitting Chen Yi Long. Instead of being grateful for Yu Qi Lei sacrificing himself to save him, Chen Yi Long expressed relief that Yu Qi Lei was dead and wouldn't extort him. This infuriated Lei Da Gang, leading him to strike Chen Yi Long.
After assaulting Chen Yi Long, Lei Da Gang immediately regretted his actions. He didn't want to make such a mistake, nor did he want to be expelled from the special operations team because of it. He had no choice but to seek Lin Lu Xiao's help in order to protect his job. While persuading Lei Da Gang, Lin Lu Xiao also contemplated ways to resolve the situation. However, the severity of Lei Da Gang's issue depended on Chen Yi Long's attitude, so Lin Lu Xiao had to help find Chen Yi Long.
Lin Lu Xiao took Lou Ming Ye and Liu Ru Yi to the hospital to find Chen Yi Long. Chen Yi Long showed no intention of reconciliation and insisted on blaming Lei Da Gang. This infuriated Liu Ru Yi to the point where he almost impulsively wanted to hit him.
Lou Ming Ye led Liu Ru Yi out of the ward, while Lin Lu Xiao suppressed his inner anger and calmly asked Chen Yi Long about his demands. However, Chen Yi Long put forward extremely unreasonable conditions. Aware of the gravity of his situation, Chen Yi Long wanted to leverage Lei Da Gang's case and have Lin Lu Xiao use his connections to clear the matter of the accident.
Lin Lu Xiao refused to compromise with Chen Yi Long, but Chen Yi Long showed complete disdain for Yu Qi Lei's death, nearly pushing Lin Lu Xiao to the point of wanting to hit him. Officers from the sub-bureau arrived to take Chen Yi Long for questioning regarding the accident's responsibility. This prevented Lin Lu Xiao from making any mistakes, and at that moment, Hu Ming Yang informed Lin Lu Xiao that they couldn't wait any longer at the police station, and Lei Da Gang's case had to go through the proper procedures.
Lin Lu Xiao was worried about Lei Da Gang's situation, and Nan Chu, who had caused unnecessary trouble for him, couldn't accompany Lin Lu Xiao. Nan Chu could only be Lin Lu Xiao's sounding board and support him silently, as Lin Lu Xiao didn't want to talk about anything at that moment, only asking Nan Chu to take care of himself.
Lei Da Gang might be suspended from duty, and Ran Dong Yang took advantage of Yu Qi Lei's sacrifice to stir up attention online, causing continuous attacks against the special operations team. This made Shao Yi Jiu and Qin Shi Quan, who were impulsive, particularly furious.
Lin Lu Xiao and Lou Ming Ye were going to meet with their superiors to resolve Lei Da Gang's situation. They were concerned that Shao Yi Jiu and the others might cause trouble. Before leaving, Lin Lu Xiao specifically instructed them to focus on their own tasks and not meddle in other people's affairs.
The romantic scenes felt a bit forced. I still remember when I was in junior high, I received the shocking news of my uncle's passing on my way home from school. My 3-year-old cousin was being held by our grandmother, crying and shouting, "My daddy is gone...
My daddy is gone..." It was truly heartbreaking. The child actors in the drama didn't portray the authenticity of such emotions. They seemed to be constantly performing a certain form. Perhaps the director hadn't witnessed the genuine expression of a 3-year-old child before.
