Episode 9 recap: The Trial of the Fire God
Liu Ru Yi went to the artist group to keep track of time, constantly urging them that the time was almost up. After much effort, they barely managed to complete the training requested by Lin Lu Xiao. Once the time was up, Yang Zhen Gang and Lin Lu Xiao announced the requirements for participating in the simulation training and divided the group list, demanding that everyone must obey orders and follow the arrangements.
Lin Lu Xiao lowered the assessment standards, which Jiang Ge found somewhat dissatisfying. He wanted to undergo the same assessment as the regular firefighters, but Lin Lu Xiao refused. Lin Lu Xiao emphasized the importance of obeying orders. Only after everyone agreed did he allow them to change their equipment and prepare to enter the simulated fire scene. Lin Lu Xiao taught Nan Chu to steady her breathing and guided her step by step to overcome the difficulties. Liu Ru Yi and Jiang Ge formed a team and entered the fire scene after Nan Chu successfully made it out. Jiang Ge, who had good physical fitness in all aspects, believed that he would have no problem doing what firefighters could do. However, after entering, he was overwhelmed by the intense heat of the fire scene. Liu Ru Yi kept urging Jiang Ge to persevere. Just when they were about to exit, Jiang Ge ignored Liu Ru Yi's command and insisted on rescuing the trapped individuals in the fire scene.
Unable to persuade Jiang Ge, Liu Ru Yi had no choice but to let him go and rescue the trapped individuals. However, Jiang Ge eventually collapsed due to exhaustion while rescuing them. Liu Ru Yi promptly went to save Jiang Ge and carried him out of the fire scene. Although Jiang Ge was fine, Liu Ru Yi was scolded by Lin Lu Xiao. Lin Lu Xiao instructed Liu Ru Yi to go back and write a self-review and accept punishment, and then went to inquire about Jiang Ge's condition. After confirming that Jiang Ge was okay, Lin Lu Xiao announced the end of the training for the artist group.
Lin Lu Xiao ended the training for the artist group because Jiang Ge didn't follow orders. The members of the group pleaded with Lin Lu Xiao one by one, but he refused to compromise. Only when Jiang Ge admitted his mistake and promised not to repeat it did Lin Lu Xiao agree to stop the training. Nan Chu explained that every firefighter grows through mistakes and that Lin Lu Xiao should give them a chance to learn from their errors.
Lin Lu Xiao was persuaded by Nan Chu and agreed to let the artist group continue their training. However, he believed that the real fire simulation training was not suitable for them, so he planned to arrange some simple fire extinguishing exercises for the group. The group was thrilled to be able to continue training, and Jiang Ge was especially grateful to Nan Chu for speaking up for him. As the training resumed, Lin Lu Xiao took the opportunity to talk to Nan Chu, letting her know that everyone feels fear but that they have to overcome it when saving lives.
After being encouraged by Lin Lu Xiao, Nan Chu felt a surge of courage. Because of this courage and persistence, she passed the fire extinguishing assessment and proudly wore the firefighter's armband, ready to go to the scene for observation. After the assessment, Lin Lu Xiao initiated further evaluations, conducting impromptu drills and emergency assemblies. During the first emergency assembly of the artist group, they didn't meet the standards, and Lin Lu Xiao reprimanded them before taking the team to the activity room to review their filming footage from the past period.
As soon as the video played, Nan Chu became a hot topic, and her popularity soared. This made Xu Zhi Yi and Yan Dai feel dissatisfied. Yan Dai asked Nan Chu about her future direction, while Xu Zhi Yi hinted that she could pursue web dramas in Yan Dai's direction and quickly replace her. This further fueled Yan Dai's resentment towards Nan Chu. Jiang Ge also developed feelings for Nan Chu during this time and asked her out for a meal.
When the production team proposed writing a few scenes to capitalize on Nan Chu and Lin Lu Xiao's current popularity and make the show more exciting, Jiang Ge immediately refused. He wanted to create the most authentic firefighting-themed program and didn't want to use Nan Chu as a gimmick. At the same time, he also wanted to pursue Nan Chu. During their dinner together, Jiang Ge inquired about Nan Chu's situation and learned that she was single. He wanted to see if he had a chance, but to his surprise, Nan Chu made it clear that he was not the person she was interested in.
In a residential community, a father and son were arguing and accidentally set each other on fire while pouring white wine. When the firefighters arrived, the flames on both the father and son had already been extinguished, but due to severe burns, the ambulance had not arrived yet. The constant arguing between the father and son caught the firefighters off guard. Lin Lu Xiao arrived and persuaded them to calm down and quickly go to the hospital to prevent the worsening of the infection from the burns.
