Episode 11 recap: Wang Xin and Yao Yu Ling started dating.
After Wang Xin finished drawing, Yao Yu Ling invited him to watch a movie together. Wang Xin reluctantly agreed because the movie was about solving a case and could potentially help with his work. While watching the movie, Yao Yu Ling kept chatting with Wang Xin, which annoyed other customers, so Wang Xin had to temporarily stop talking.
Just as Wang Xin fell silent, Yao Yu Ling took the opportunity to confess her feelings and told Wang Xin that she liked him. While Wang Xin was considering how to respond to Yao Yu Ling, the dialogue in the movie coincidentally said the same line, causing Wang Xin to mistakenly think that Yao Yu Ling was quoting the movie and not paying much attention to it.
After the movie ended, Yao Yu Ling confessed to Wang Xin again. Wang Xin was delighted to hear this and hesitated for a moment before answering Yao Yu Ling's question, expressing that he also liked her. After confessing to each other, Yao Yu Ling and Wang Xin happily went home together. When they reached the intersection near the residential compound, Wang Xin felt it was inconvenient to be seen together, so he asked Yao Yu Ling to go in first.
While Wang Su Fang was fetching water at home, she suddenly fainted. Fortunately, Wang Yong Ge and others noticed it in time and rushed Wang Su Fang to the hospital. When Wang Su Fang woke up, she immediately instructed the doctor not to disclose her condition to anyone, especially not to Ma Kui.
When Ma Kui returned home, he hurriedly went to the hospital to see Wang Su Fang. He was extremely worried about Wang Su Fang's fainting incident and suspected that there might be other problems. Shen Xiu Ping helped Wang Su Fang cover up the situation, claiming that she was just tired and had low blood sugar due to inadequate nutrition. Shen Xiu Ping instructed Wang Su Fang to carry some sugar with her in case she fainted again.
Due to Shen Xiu Ping's words, Ma Kui no longer doubted Wang Su Fang's illness and believed that she simply lacked proper nutrition. Therefore, he took great care of Wang Su Fang. While Shen Xiu Ping helped Wang Su Fang conceal her condition, she also worried about Wang Su Fang's health. When they were alone, she eagerly asked Wang Su Fang how long she planned to hide her illness.
Wang Su Fang understood Ma Kui and Ma Yan's personalities and knew that if Ma Kui found out about her illness, he would give up everything to accompany her in seeking medical treatment, ultimately burdening their family with debts. Therefore, she was determined not to let Ma Kui know about her illness. When Ma Kui was out driving, he encountered Lu Xue Lin, who was wearing mourning attire. Ma Kui realized that someone in Lu Xue Lin's family had passed away, so he greeted her and exchanged a few words.
Lu Xue Lin expressed gratitude to Ma Kui for his previous help and mentioned that Bai Yu Xia did not rush him to transfer jobs. Ma Kui felt somewhat guilty after hearing this and was unsure whether he should tell Lu Xue Lin the truth. As soon as Ma Kui returned, he immediately went to the hospital to accompany Wang Su Fang. Wang Yong Ge and his son were also there, so Ma Kui thanked Wang Yong Ge for taking Wang Su Fang to the hospital.
Ma Yan and Wang Xin came out of the hospital early in the morning, and Yao Yu Ling came to pick up Wang Xin with breakfast. Ma Yan then found out that Wang Xin and Yao Yu Ling were dating. Ma Yan was surprised by the news but had to suppress her feelings and express her blessings to them for the sake of her own self-esteem.
Yao Yu Ling proudly held Wang Xin's arm as they returned to the residential compound. Everyone knew they were together, which made Niu Da Li very angry. Niu Da Li blamed Wang Xin for not being a good friend and accused him of stealing Yao Yu Ling away. However, Wang Xin insisted that he had done nothing wrong and had not betrayed Niu Da Li.
Ma Yan also couldn't understand why Wang Xin had a good relationship with her but suddenly got together with Yao Yu Ling. So she called Wang Xin out to question him. Wang Xin explained that he and Ma Yan were just classmates and he was also Ma Kui's apprentice. There was nothing wrong with him frequently visiting Ma Yan's house. This left Ma Yan at a loss for words.
Niu Da Li was feeling particularly frustrated for not winning Yao Yu Ling's affection. He threw himself into work and vented all his unhappiness on the boiler. Meanwhile, Ruo Ruo encountered a group of robbers on a train. When he refused to give them money, they beat him up. Fortunately, Ma Kui and Wang Xin arrived in time and saved him from being beaten to death.
Ma Kui apprehended the group of assailants and learned about the reason behind Ruo Ruo's attack. He told Ruo Ruo to find a witness to prove the actions of those people. Ruo Ruo found a witness, but the witness was afraid of retaliation and falsely claimed to have seen nothing, refusing to testify on Ruo Ruo's behalf.
Unable to find evidence, Ruo Ruo had to give up pursuing the case. However, Ma Kui refused to give up. After getting off the train, he continued to follow the witness, hoping to gather more evidence and understand the situation. Ma Kui followed the witness to their home, but the witness still refused to speak. So Ma Kui decided to wait until it was dark, bought some items, and returned to see the witness again. Ma Kui explained that he knew the witness was acquainted with the group of people and feared retaliation, which was why they were reluctant to speak. He hoped to persuade the witness to reveal the truth.
The witness still refused to speak, but Ma Kui left the purchased canned goods behind. Moved by this gesture, the witness finally invited Ma Kui into the house and explained the situation. The witness shared information about the group of attackers and also revealed an incident where they saw Liu Gui Ying drugging a child on the train. This discovery gave Wang Xin a new lead.
With the information from the witness, the police were able to find the missing child. However, the human traffickers had not been apprehended yet, which left Wang Xin feeling uneasy.
