Episode 14 recap: Wang Xin won the shooting competition championship.
After Ma Yan arrived at the dormitory, she had a good chat with Lin Jian Jun. Wang Xin felt that Ma Yan's presence here might lead to misunderstandings, so he asked Ma Yan to keep her distance. Ma Yan wasn't very happy when she heard what Wang Xin said. She explained that she came here to tell Wang Xin that he was able to keep his job this time because of Ma Kui's help.
After Ma Yan clarified things with Wang Xin, Lin Jian Jun treated them to delicious food. Ma Yan then asked about the case that Wang Xin mentioned earlier, and Lin Jian Jun suggested that Ma Yan, being a fresh face, should go undercover.
Wang Xin thought Ma Yan wasn't suitable for the task, but Ma Yan was very eager to participate. So Wang Xin let Ma Yan give it a try. Ma Yan went to the square and looked for people to exchange small change. That's when a scammer approached her, offering to help her exchange a ten-yuan bill. Ma Yan counted the money several times and confirmed that it was correct, but when she was about to leave, the scammer claimed that there might be a bill with a missing corner and asked to check again.
While the scammer was rechecking, they quickly took out three bills, hoping to deceive Ma Yan. However, after Ma Yan received the money, she counted it again. Worried that Ma Yan would discover the scam, the scammer tried to stop her. At that moment, Wang Xin appeared and caught the scammer.
Wang Xin acted swiftly and caught the scammer, almost breaking their hand. Chief Yang was particularly impressed with Wang Xin's performance and was surprised to learn that Wang Xin was Ma Kui's disciple. Ma Yan helped Wang Xin resolve a major issue and then returned to the courtyard. Ma Kui was unhappy that Ma Yan went to see Wang Xin, but Wang Su Fang always used her illness to threaten Ma Kui, so Ma Kui didn't show his displeasure.
Wang Xin represented Hongyang Train Station and went to Haicheng to participate in a shooting competition. When Ma Yan saw Wang Xin return, she specifically greeted him, but she didn't expect to be rebuked by Wang Xin. Ma Yan scolded Wang Xin unhappily, and only then did Wang Xin invite Ma Yan to watch his shooting competition.
Soon, the shooting competition began, and people from the courtyard gathered outside the shooting range to watch Wang Xin's competition. Wang Xin performed exceptionally well in the competition and won the championship with first place. Everyone was extremely happy, and Ma Kui even showed a relieved smile from the sidelines.
When Wang Xin received the award, he expressed special thanks to Ma Kui. He believed that it was Ma Kui's demanding requirements in daily life that allowed him to perform so well today. He promised to continue striving and achieve even better results in the future.
After watching the competition, Ma Kui went home to pickle cabbage, while Ma Yan happily ran back home to tell him about Wang Xin thanking Ma Kui.
Ma Kui didn't show joy and still didn't want Ma Yan to get close to Wang Xin, which led to another argument between Ma Kui and Ma Yan. Wang Xin specifically came to their house to thank Ma Kui for saving his job and also wanted to ask when he could return to Haicheng to work.
Wang Xin mentioned that he felt a bit useless as a hero at Hongyang Train Station and wanted to be transferred back sooner. However, Ma Kui didn't share the same view. Ma Kui didn't believe that Wang Xin could be called a hero, which made Wang Xin awkwardly leave while showing off his certificate to Ma Kui.
Wang Xin didn't get a warm reception from Ma Kui, so he had to return to Hongyang Station. Once he got back, he showed his certificate to Chief Yang, but Chief Yang didn't think it was anything remarkable. He asked Wang Xin to continue with his patrol. While on patrol, Wang Xin heard that there was a fight at the convenience store, so he immediately ran over to assess the situation.
The store owner claimed that a customer knocked over the alcohol in his shop and demanded compensation. However, the customer insisted that they had nothing to do with it and refused to pay, resulting in the owner assaulting them. Wang Xin assessed the situation but couldn't find any witnesses, and there were no other customers in the store. He could only try to persuade the passenger to pay. Suddenly, a passenger on the train had a seizure and began shouting and threatening people with a knife. Xiao Hu tried to reason with them but ended up being attacked by the passenger. Xiao Hu could only escape for his life.
Ma Kui intervened promptly to stop the passenger from attacking and fought with them, while Xiao Hu, out of fear, watched from the side until Ma Kui managed to knock the knife out of the passenger's hand. Only then did Xiao Hu step forward to help and subdue the passenger. Ma Kui got injured in the process, but he only received a simple examination at the hospital and didn't pay much attention to the fact that the hospital was out of medicine. He went back directly.
Ma Yan went to see Wang Xin, intending to playfully throw ice cubes at him while he was shoveling snow. However, Wang Xin caught her in the act. Ma Yan brought dumplings for Wang Xin to eat, but Wang Xin urged her to go back, fearing that she would get scolded if she stayed too long.
As Ma Yan and Wang Xin were playfully tugging at each other, they accidentally fell onto the bed just as Lin Jian Jun walked in. Thinking that he had interrupted something intimate, he felt extremely embarrassed and quickly left the room.
