Episode 34 recap: Wang Yong Ge had a stroke and confessed to the truth about the murder that happened years ago.
Ma Kui blamed Wang Yong Ge for being cowardly back then and refusing to testify for him. He would never forgive Wang Yong Ge. Ma Kui believed that Wang Xin was a good child and strongly disagreed with Wang Xin being together with Ma Yan. If Wang Xin wants to hate someone, let him hate Wang Yong Ge.
After scolding Wang Yong Ge, Ma Kui angrily went home to tell Ma Yan and persuade her to give up on Wang Xin and stop thinking about this matter. Wang Xin couldn't understand why things had turned out this way, but Ma Kui remained adamant and wanted to investigate what happened back then.
Wang Xin asked Wang Yong Ge about the incident in the second train car, hoping to find some clues. However, Wang Yong Ge became angry upon hearing it and even had an outburst at Wang Xin, eventually fainting and collapsing with a nosebleed. Seeing Wang Yong Ge fall down, Wang Xin had to quickly arrange for Wang Yong Ge to be taken to the hospital.
Upon hearing the commotion in the yard, Ma Yan went out to see what was happening and only then learned that Wang Yong Ge had possibly had a stroke and was taken to the hospital. Ma Kui, upon hearing that Wang Yong Ge was admitted to the hospital, remained unmoved. Ma Yan had to dress herself and go to the hospital to see the situation.
Wang Yong Ge received timely treatment and temporarily escaped from life-threatening danger. Ma Yan arrived at the hospital and wanted to ask Wang Xin about the situation, but Wang Xin was in a hurry to handle the formalities for Wang Yong Ge's hospital admission and didn't have time to tell Ma Yan, so he could only ask her to go back first.
In the following days, Wang Xin continued to take care of Wang Yong Ge in the hospital, while Ma Yan continued to work and set up a stall, and the two rarely had a chance to meet. Ma Kui couldn't let go of his concerns and didn't inquire about Wang Yong Ge's situation. He could only continue working alone.
With Wang Xin taking care of him, Wang Yong Ge's health gradually improved. People from the neighborhood brought things from their homes to visit Wang Yong Ge, which deeply touched him. However, Ma Kui never appeared, and his heart was still tormented.
Lu Hong Xing saw Ma Kui traveling alone and looking melancholic, so he went over and had a chat with him, discussing Wang Xin. Ma Kui acknowledged Wang Xin in his heart, but because Wang Xin was Wang Yong Ge's son, he couldn't accept it.
Ma Yan went to find Wang Xin and questioned why he was avoiding her. Wang Xin could only explain to Ma Yan about Wang Yong Ge's condition. Ma Yan questioned Wang Yong Ge's and Ma Kui's matters, and Wang Xin confessed everything to Ma Yan, explaining that Ma Kui believed in what happened back then, Wang Yong Ge saw it but didn't testify for him, and he couldn't forgive Wang Yong Ge.
Upon hearing Wang Xin's words, Ma Yan showed that she believed what Ma Kui had said and asked Wang Xin about his thoughts.
Wang Xin said that regardless of the truth from that year, he dare not press Wang Yong Ge any further because he fears that Wang Yong Ge's health cannot bear it.
Just as Wang Xin finished speaking, Ma Yan saw Wang Yong Ge standing behind them, and his frail appearance made her reluctant to say much. Wang Yong Ge went to the hospital for a check-up and learned that if his condition worsened, he could develop dementia in old age, which weighed heavily on his heart.
After much contemplation, Wang Yong Ge finally mustered up the courage to knock on Ma Kui's door. However, Ma Kui didn't want to hear any more lies from Wang Yong Ge and tried to drive him away. Wang Yong Ge, fearing he would develop dementia, couldn't confess the truth about what happened back then. But he decided to come clean with Ma Kui.
Wang Yong Ge explained that he was the one who killed the person in the dining car, which surprised Ma Kui. So he opened the door to listen to Wang Yong Ge's account. Wang Yong Ge explained that it was an accidental killing, and he fled out of fear. He never expected Ma Kui to stumble upon him.
Wang Yong Ge admitted everything and repeatedly apologized to Ma Kui, explaining that he was just scared and that his children were too young at the time for him to come forward. Ma Kui was furious that Wang Yong Ge let him take the blame for an unjust imprisonment. While Ma Kui was pressuring Wang Yong Ge, Ma Yan and Wang Xin returned.
Upon hearing Wang Yong Ge's words, Ma Yan expressed her sadness, pointing out that Wang Xin was only eight years old that year, and she was only seven. Wang Yong Ge had deprived her of a father since childhood. Wang Xin didn't know what to do upon hearing about Wang Yong Ge's actions, nor did he know how to face the situation.
Ma Yan ran into the room in tears, and Wang Xin couldn't find the words to say. Ma Kui, in anger, drove Wang Yong Ge and his son out, and this revelation plunged everyone into deep pain. After returning home, Wang Xin locked himself in his room and refused to open the door no matter how Wang Yong Ge called him.
Early in the morning, Wang Yong Ge went to confess to Hu Dui Zhang, admitting to the murder from years ago. He confessed the truth and wrote down the events from that time, hoping the police would release Ma Kui soon because his memory had become confused, and he was in a daze.
Ma Yan tore up the medical report and confessed that she was not pregnant, admitting her mistake to Ma Kui.
