Episode 36 recap: Wang Xin and Ma Yan's wedding.
People in the courtyard were discussing Shen Xiu Ping. It was only then that Shen Xiu Ping told Ma Kui about her father's situation, afraid that it would affect Ma Kui. Shen's father was a released prisoner, and after his release, he was diagnosed with lung cancer. Shen Xiu Ping couldn't abandon him, so she had to bring him to live in the courtyard.
Ma Kui knew about Shen Xiu Ping's situation and wanted to help take care of Shen's father and announce their relationship to everyone. However, Shen Xiu Ping refused. She felt that her family background would affect Ma Kui's future and was afraid of being criticized by everyone in the courtyard. Therefore, she firmly disagreed with Ma Kui's involvement and didn't want to burden him.
Ma Kui was a responsible person and couldn't let Shen Xiu Ping bear everything alone. He gathered all the people in the courtyard and publicly announced his and Shen Xiu Ping's relationship. He mentioned that his family had already agreed, so he planned to marry Shen Xiu Ping after Ma Yan's wedding.
Upon hearing Ma Kui publicly announce their relationship, Shen Xiu Ping immediately tried to stop him, claiming that he had drunk too much and asked everyone not to believe what he said.
