Episode 5 recap: Wang Xin asked Ma Yan to intercede and borrow a cloth ticket.

Hou San Jin was anxious to run and didn't dare to ask for anything. When Ma Kui saw that he refused to confess, he had no choice but to let him go first. Hou San Jin thought he had escaped and hurriedly went to the railway side to look for the watch he had dropped, while Ma Kui followed him from behind. Hou San Jin couldn't find the watch, and when he saw Ma Kui approaching, he had no choice but to flee desperately, leaving Ma Kui exhausted.

When Hou San Jin saw that Ma Kui couldn't run anymore, he became arrogant in front of him and threatened to take Ma Kui back to his home as a servant. While Hou San Jin was boasting, Wang Xin caught up and immediately subdued Hou San Jin, who then began to plead for mercy.

Although Hou San Jin pleaded for mercy, he refused to admit to stealing the watch and did not disclose its whereabouts. Wang Xin took Hou San Jin back, but unexpectedly, in a moment of carelessness among the rocks by the railway, he saw the lost watch. Wang Xin was especially excited to see the watch and immediately wanted to take it, but Ma Kui couldn't stop him and could only kick him aside.

Ma Kui kicked Wang Xin, which made him very angry. It wasn't until Ma Kui took out gloves to pick up the watch that Wang Xin understood his intention. Ma Kui put away the watch and explained that they would go back and extract fingerprints. As long as there were no fingerprints of Hou San Jin, it would prove his innocence. This made Hou San Jin anxious.

Hou San Jin pleaded with Ma Kui for the sake of his family, but Ma Kui completely ignored him and told him to continue singing his little tune. Ma Kui and Wang Xin took the watch and went to deliver it to Tang Xing Guo. When Tang Xing Guo saw them, he immediately thought that the watch had been found, but Ma Kui claimed that they hadn't found the watch.

Tang Xing Guo was disappointed to hear that the watch hadn't been found, while Li Yu Xiu believed that Tang Xing Guo never bought the watch and it was just an empty box. This led to an argument between the couple. While they were arguing fiercely, Ma Kui took out the watch and told them not to argue anymore and live a good life.

Li Yu Xiu was particularly fond of the watch and couldn't put it down. Ma Kui and the others quietly left. Lu Xue Lin and Bai Yu Xia, a married couple, were traveling together on a train. Bai Yu Xia arrived at the station first, so Lu Xue Lin had to escort Bai Yu Xia off the train and put her bag on the seat to save his own spot. At the same time, he instructed the passenger standing next to the seat that he would be returning to sit there.

The passenger who had no seat paid no attention to Lu Xue Lin's instructions. As soon as Lu Xue Lin left the seat, the passenger immediately threw his bag on it and occupied the spot.

After bidding farewell to Bai Yu Xia, Lu Xue Lin returned to his seat only to find it occupied. He tried reasoning with the passenger who took the seat, but the person refused to return it.

Fortunately, Ma Kui appeared just in time and helped Lu Xue Lin reclaim the seat, resolving the seat dispute. After finishing work, Ma Kui went home and found Ma Yan looking down and dejected at the desk. He approached her to inquire about her situation. Ma Yan was struggling with her studies and expressed her reluctance to take the college entrance exam. However, Ma Kui disagreed. Upon learning that Ma Yan's academic performance was affected by family matters, he insisted that she continue studying and take the exam next year.

Meanwhile, train conductor Lu Hong Xing was on the train chatting with passengers about the railway staff's uniforms. Yao Yu Ling modified her own uniform and provocatively passed by them, which displeased Lu Hong Xing. Lu Hong Xing reprimanded Yao Yu Ling for casually altering her uniform, and Ma Kui also reminded her that the uniforms represented the railway staff's professional image and should not be changed arbitrarily.

Feeling wronged, Yao Yu Ling agreed to change her uniform back and revealed that Lu's wife had helped her modify the clothes. When Lu Hong Xing learned that it was his own wife who had altered the uniform, he scolded his wife when he got home and locked up her sewing machine. Yao Yu Ling returned home from work and sought Lu's wife's help to modify her clothes, but she was unable to do so. Yao Yu Ling then went to find someone else to help, but changing the clothes back meant she needed to buy more fabric.

Yao Yu Ling didn't have a fabric ticket and couldn't buy the fabric, so she had to seek help from Wang Xin. Wang Xin gave Yao Yu Ling his fabric ticket, but it had expired. He had no other choice but to accompany Yao Yu Ling to ask Ma Yan, who worked at a store, for help.

Ma Yan initially refused to lend fabric to Yao Yu Ling, but Wang Xin's plea was hard to resist, so she reluctantly lent her own fabric ticket to solve Yao Yu Ling's problem. Niu Da Li, knowing that Yao Yu Ling needed a fabric ticket, exchanged all his grain tickets for fabric tickets. However, after getting the fabric tickets, he realized that Wang Xin had already helped Yao Yu Ling, which made him feel upset.

Feeling disappointed for not being able to help, Niu Da Li invited Wang Xin and others to have a drink together, but Wang Xin and the others advised Niu Da Li not to pursue Yao Yu Ling too eagerly. However, Niu Da Li refused to listen. Wang Xin returned Ma Yan's fabric ticket, and Ma Kui was unhappy to see him. While Ma Kui was vigorously chopping meat while making dumplings at home to express his displeasure, Ma Yan paid no attention to him and asked Wang Xin to stay and eat dumplings together.

During the meal, Ma Kui jokingly suggested that if Wang Xin stayed to eat dumplings and consumed their family's grain ticket quota, they would have to go hungry. However, Ma Yan quickly retorted, shutting down his remark.
