Episode 6 recap: A war broke out between Ma Kui and his daughter.
Yao Yu Ling waited for Wang Xin to return. Upon hearing Wang Xin say he went to return a ticket, she took this opportunity to express her gratitude to Wang Xin and seized the chance to hold his hand. Wang Xin noticed Yao Yu Ling's smile and sensed her affection, but he didn't know how to reject her advances.
Just as Wang Xin was feeling awkward, Niu Da Li suddenly noticed them and shouted, causing Yao Yu Ling to awkwardly leave. Niu Da Li blamed Wang Xin for getting too close to Yao Yu Ling, but Wang Xin insisted that they were just normal friends. He also mentioned that Yao Yu Ling didn't have any interest in Niu Da Li and advised him not to take it to heart.
However, Niu Da Li didn't listen to Wang Xin and continued to blame him for getting too close to Yao Yu Ling, leaving Wang Xin helpless. Later, Wang Yong Ge asked Wang Xin about the conflict with Niu Da Li and mentioned Wang Xin's visit to the Ma family. Upon hearing this, Wang Xin shared that Ma Yan used to excel in her studies, but her education was disrupted due to Ma Kui's imprisonment. Now she couldn't pursue university, which weighed heavily on his conscience.
In another incident, a woman and her child were traveling by train. When they were about to disembark, the child urgently needed to use the restroom, but the woman had to watch their luggage. She reluctantly allowed the child to go to the restroom alone. Fearful of losing her child, the woman kept her eyes on the restroom. However, human trafficker Liu Gui Ying had already singled out the child and intentionally stood in the aisle, blocking the woman's view.
Although the woman was momentarily obstructed, she saw her child enter the restroom from a distance and returned to her seat. However, after waiting for a long time without the child's return, she grew worried. The woman went to the restroom to find her son, but a man opened the door and claimed not to have seen the child. He refused to let the woman enter and inspect the restroom, leaving her no choice but to take a quick glance.
The woman believed that her child had gone somewhere else, so she went searching for him. Meanwhile, Liu Gui Ying, in collaboration with the man, took the child, who had been rendered unconscious and hidden in a sack, and treated him as luggage, waiting at the train's exit. The woman sought help from the police on the train to find her child, but no one knew that the child had already been taken away in the sack. As a result, the child was never found.
The railway department held a meeting to discuss the missing child incident. Wang Xin, without serious consideration, believed that the child hadn't gone to the restroom and had simply gotten lost on their own. This led to a severe criticism from Ma Kui. Ma Kui believed that Liu Gui Ying, who intentionally blocked the woman's view, and the man in the restroom were suspicious. He suspected the involvement of human traffickers. Wang Xin strongly disagreed, which resulted in him intentionally going to Ma's house after work to meet Ma Yan, have dinner, and drink, all to annoy Ma Kui.
Ma Kui accompanied the intoxicated Wang Xin back home and coincidentally ran into Wang Yong Ge. Wang Yong Ge had intended to use Wang Xin's visit to Ma's house as an opportunity to enjoy free food and drinks and compensate Ma Kui with some food tickets or the like. However, Ma Kui refused to accept anything.
Ma Kui stated that they had to settle their accounts one by one and brought up the events from ten years ago once again, leaving Wang Yong Ge unsure of what to say. When Wang Xin sobered up, Wang Yong Ge mentioned the drinking incident, advising Wang Xin not to confront Ma Kui all the time. He also suggested that Wang Xin should accept Ma Kui's targeting and somewhat puzzled Wang Xin.
During a conversation with Ma Kui, Ma Yan reminded him once again not to constantly target Wang Xin.
Lu Xue Lin and Bai Yu Xia, once again parting ways at the Haihe Railway Station, were both in a bad mood this time. Bai Yu Xia had been trying to persuade Lu Xue Lin to transfer back to Haihe, not wanting to be in a long-distance relationship anymore. She wanted to marry Lu Xue Lin, have children, and live a stable life.
Lu Xue Lin refused to transfer back to Haihe because he was at a crucial point in his career, having just been recommended for a promotion. He didn't want to give up his promising future. Bai Yu Xia was pressuring him to get married, and Lu Xue Lin suggested that Bai Yu Xia should transfer to Harbin instead. However, Bai Yu Xia didn't want to move either, which led to an argument between them.
When Bai Yu Xia got off the train, Lu Xue Lin made it clear that he wouldn't transfer back to Haihe. Bai Yu Xia also expressed that neither of them would necessarily be unable to live without the other, hinting that she might find someone else. This deeply saddened Lu Xue Lin. After Bai Yu Xia left, Lu Xue Lin had some drinks on the train and ended up vomiting in the restroom.
Ma Kui recognized Lu Xue Lin and decided to chat with him to understand his situation with Bai Yu Xia and console him. When Ma Kui returned home from work, he was annoyed to find Wang Xin there again and wanted to chase him away, but Wang Su Fang disagreed.
Wang Su Fang believed that since Wang Xin came, Ma Yan had been smiling more, and Wang Xin had also given them a lot of food tickets. He wasn't taking advantage of them, so Ma Kui shouldn't target Wang Xin. Ma Kui thought that Wang Xin was deliberately provoking him by getting close to Ma Yan, but Wang Su Fang disagreed.
After Wang Xin left, Ma Kui once again requested that Ma Yan keep her distance from Wang Xin, which upset Ma Yan. She criticized Ma Kui's character, saying that they had been separated for ten years, and she no longer knew what kind of person he was.
Hearing Ma Yan's words, Ma Kui expressed unhappiness, stating that it wasn't his choice to leave for ten years, and he hadn't been living well during that time either. Ma Yan couldn't help but share her grievances from the past ten years with Ma Kui. Ma Kui and Wang Su Fang felt a deep heartache upon hearing about Ma Yan's struggles but didn't know what to say.
At night, a heavy rain began to fall, and Ma Kui's house started leaking everywhere. They couldn't solve the problem despite using one basin after another to catch the water.
