Episode 10 recap: # Kang Yun Hai Provokes in Yong, Yuan Mo's Clever Retaliation

In this episode, after everything becomes clear, Yu De Shui finds himself more troubled than ever, blaming the Eastern Court for their overly meticulous investigation. Initially, everyone believed Mu Yi Kuan was the culprit, and the situation had stirred up quite a commotion in Yan Le. Now, with Hong Ye being implicated, the fragile peace between Da Yong and Yan Le feels as unstable as a candle in the wind, ready to extinguish at any moment.

Especially concerning is the arrival of Yan Le's high-ranking official, Kang Yun Hai, accompanied by advisor Ma Zhi Wen, which threatens to stir up significant turmoil.

A Shu, hoping to learn chess from Yuan Mo, casually brings up the impending visit of the Yan Le envoy, asking if A Shu plans to greet them. A Shu's expression darkens as he recalls that the Yan Le official was responsible for his family's ruin, leaving him with nothing but hatred; he has no desire to welcome them.

Meanwhile, Yu De Shui has arranged for the Eastern Court to host the Yan Le envoy but plans to assign Yuan Mo to investigate a smuggling case. Wang Kun Wu sees this as an opportunity but finds that Yu De Shui is set on his decision, insisting that Yuan Mo is well-suited for the investigation. Sensing Yu De Shui's ulterior motives, Wang Kun Wu secretly checks Yuan Mo's background in the archives.

He discovers that Yuan Mo is the son of Yuan Han Jing, whose parents were killed during a mission to Yan Le when they encountered the Long Tu Qi rebellion. This connection likely ties back to Long Tu Qi, which is why Yu De Shui is keen to keep Yuan Mo out of the spotlight.

Upon arriving in Yan Le, Kang Yun Hai is greeted in a formal procession led by An Yuan Dao and the people of the Si Fang Pavilion. However, the Yan Le delegation, dressed in mourning attire, refuses to dismount upon reaching the city gate. An Xiu Yi, incensed by this, orders a formation to be ready, prompting the Yan Le officials to halt. Kang Yun Hai seizes the moment, asserting that since Long Bei was killed in Da Yong, the officials there should also wear mourning clothes to show respect.

An Yuan Dao is left speechless by this demand. At this critical moment, Yuan Mo steps forward, instructing that the main gate be closed, asserting that the mourning Yan Le delegation should enter through the side gate like commoners. Faced with this challenge, Kang Yun Hai, realizing his position is weak, has his men remove their mourning attire.

During the formal talks, Kang Yun Hai gets straight to the point, stating that his purpose for coming is to retrieve Long Ge and Hong Ye.

An Yuan Dao explained that Hong Ye is a citizen of Da Yong and has committed a crime there, so he must be dealt with according to Da Yong's laws. However, Kang Yun Hai remained firm, insisting that Long Ge, as a young lord of Yan Le, must be returned to face punishment. The two sides were at a standstill, with neither willing to concede.

Privately, Yu De Shui told An Yuan Dao that Kang Yun Hai had clearly come prepared, and they needed to find a solution that would satisfy both parties. He suggested allowing Long Ge to return to Yan Le for trial while Hong Ye would remain in Da Yong. But Kang Yun Hai exploded with anger at this suggestion, declaring he wouldn’t accept any negotiations.

Meanwhile, Ma Zhi Wen, having learned about Yuan Mo's background, informed Kang Yun Hai that Long Ge had been taken to the Yan Le Pavilion and advised him not to be too harsh on Long Ge. As for the situation with Hong Ye, they would figure out a solution gradually.

Later, Yu De Shui criticized Yuan Mo for being too ostentatious at the city gate. Yu Chi Hua then asked who the Si Fang Pavilion would send to negotiate with the Yan Le delegation, and An Xiu Yi eagerly volunteered, claiming he was the most suitable from the Eastern Court. Yu Chi Hua teased him about his good connections, which made An Xiu Yi unhappy, prompting him to insist that his skills were genuine. Yu De Shui watched this exchange with a sense of helplessness, unable to smile openly.

That night, Long Ge secretly snuck out of the Yan Le Pavilion and went to the prison to kill Hong Ye. The guards quickly discovered the situation, and the next day, Long Ge was brought back to the Yan Le Pavilion for questioning. Kang Yun Hai feigned ignorance about the incident at first, then chastised Long Ge for disregarding the peace and safety of the country, executing him on the spot.

Thus, these two significant offenders were dealt with mysteriously, leaving Yu De Shui with no choice but to hastily arrange for the Si Fang Pavilion to prepare for the upcoming negotiations.
