Episode 19 recap: Yuan Mo Investigates Xiangyun Pavilion, Duo Mi Found Dead by the River
In Episode 19, Yuan Mo has been feeling down lately and complains to everyone about getting beaten up for no reason, unsure why Yu Chi Hua is angry with him. Wang Kun Wu shakes his head, pointing out that Yuan Mo is being greedy, focusing on what he has while coveting what he doesn’t. Confused, Yuan Mo learns that he mistakenly mistook Yu Chi Hua for his friend A Shu during the citizenship ceremony.
Meanwhile, A Shu, having heard from Lin Su Su that Yuan Mo is pursuing Yu Chi Hua, feels heartbroken, thinking her feelings have gone to waste. She decides to pack her bags and move away. However, Yuan Mo quickly stops her and, after a few drinks, ends up confessing to A Shu what he intended to say to Yu Chi Hua. A Shu, who had sensed this already, feels relieved and happy, leading to a natural development in their relationship.
On Yu Chi Hua’s side, the misunderstanding is finally resolved, but he feels guilty about Yuan Mo's beating. Wang Kun Wu suggests they buy wine as an apology and starts gossiping about who fell for whom first. He laughs, saying it's hard to determine the timeline of emotions. Just then, a heavy rain starts, and Wang Kun Wu holds an umbrella for Yu Chi Hua. Coincidentally, An Xiu Yi passes by and asks Lin Su Su to book a room at Xiangyun Pavilion, hinting at other plans.
While on patrol, Yu Chi Hua encounters a runaway carriage and bravely intervenes, discovering Shen Bai Lian and Li Fu Ren inside. Noticing Li Fu Ren’s strange demeanor, Yu Chi Hua quickly helps Shen Bai Lian out and takes Li Fu Ren to the hospital. This incident nearly derails An Xiu Yi’s alliance plan with Yu Luo, as the Yu Luo envoy storms off in anger.
Wang Kun Wu faces criticism from his superior for failing to supervise Shen Bai Lian properly, leading to rampant rumors. Duo Mi, staying at an inn, also encounters danger, receiving an anonymous arrow warning.
Shen Bai Lian clarifies that she and Li Fu Ren were only at Xiangyun Pavilion because Li Fu Ren is fond of the "Immortal Soup" there. A Shu quickly deduces that they may have been poisoned. Yu Chi Hua mentions that An Xiu Yi had originally planned a banquet at Xiangyun Pavilion, and Yuan Mo and Wang Kun Wu decide to go in their place to investigate.
Yuan Mo and A Shu enter Xiangyun Pavilion and order the Immortal Soup. Before they can drink it, the aroma makes them feel lightheaded. Wang Kun Wu, sensing something is off, rushes in to find both of them poisoned. Yuan Mo suspects that the waiter recognized their identities. A Shu discovers hibiscus grass in the charcoal, which is a poisonous plant known to cause hallucinations.
The four of them act quickly, capturing the shopkeeper and the waiter, and trace the poison back to Chef Lao Duan and his hibiscus grass. They present the evidence to the Yu Luo embassy, where Li Fu Ren finally confesses that she often visited Xiangyun Pavilion for solace after losing her child, which led to her accidental poisoning. Upon learning the truth, the Yu Luo envoy agrees to continue the alliance.
On another note, Duo Mi goes missing after a night of drinking, and the next day, a body suspected to be hers is found by the river. Lord Ao pretends to care but has ulterior motives. Yu De Shui is overwhelmed, needing to placate Yu Luo while dealing with the unexpected situation involving the Northern Prince. Yuan Mo, armed with evidence, vows to uncover the mastermind and thwart the conspiracy against the alliance of the five nations.
