Episode 22 recap: Gu Yi Zhong's Intent to Kill Zhou Zhi Fei

In this episode, Gu Yi Zhong is holding his sister's child. Hai Mo, unaware of whose child it is, finds the baby adorable and asks Gu Yi Zhong about it. He tells her it's his nephew and contacts Xiao Ruo Tong to inform her. After hanging up, Gu Yi Zhong asks Hai Mo if she can make plum blossom cakes, specifically with red bean paste filling, which her mother taught her. He expresses a strong desire to eat them, and she agrees.

News arrives about Zhou Zhi Fei's "sacrifice," brought by military intelligence agents, but the sudden appearance of Agent 90 forces her to quickly relocate. Xie Wen Chao returns to report on the mission, having only killed two enemies. Zhou Zhi Fei rallies the morale, determined to show both military factions the strength of Agent 90.

Meanwhile, Xiao Ruo Tong pays tribute to Zhou Zhen Wu, remembering fallen comrades. After paying respects to his sister, Gu Yi Zhong prepares a sniper rifle for any unexpected events. Fu Gui comes to assist with the aftermath but finds Gu Yi Zhong has already left, leaving behind silence and unfinished business.

On the rooftop, Gu Yi Zhong watches Zhou Zhi Fei stretching on the balcony, conflicted as he aims his rifle at him. He hears footsteps in the stairwell and turns to see it's Old Huang from the underground party, feeling relieved but still harboring hatred. Old Huang advises that the true enemy is the Japanese, and killing Zhou Zhi Fei will only lead to more like him.

After some persuasion, Gu Yi Zhong lowers his gun. He receives news that his application for vindication has been submitted and that he will be sent on a mission to the base, a spark of hope in his eyes. At this moment, Hai Mo is being controlled by Quan Shui, and Gu Yi Zhong rushes to the designated location to save her.

Faced with the complications of Jiang Bo Xian's disappearance and Zhou Zhi Fei's involvement, Gu Yi Zhong skillfully navigates his interactions with Kondo Masao, trying to thwart Chiang Kai-shek's treacherous plans while rescuing Hai Mo. Zhou Zhi Fei pretends to be innocent, claiming ignorance about Jiang Bo Xian, mirroring the warden's stance.

Yu Qing longs for freedom while being hidden by Zhou Zhi Fei, who remains calm and has carefully prepared to take her to a mysterious meeting. Meanwhile, the meeting between Xiao Ruo Tong and Gu Yi Zhong becomes tense due to the Hai Mo incident, putting their previously joyful plans on hold.
