Episode 16 recap: Survivors' Robin Hood.
Director Qiao listened to the interrogation outside the door and didn't believe that her father would have the money from the Five United Financial. She burst into the interrogation room and scolded Huang Hai for talking nonsense. Li Can hurriedly persuaded her to leave. When Lin Yingshu was released, she took the initiative to come over and apologize to Lin Yingshu and Lin Sen. Kiko looked up at the night sky, and Tina walked over and asked him if the person who helped Li Can launder money was Ouyang. Kiko nodded, but he was puzzled as to why Ouyang wanted to kill Qiao Qingshan.
Kiko went to Wipay Company to continue searching for clues. She talked on the phone with Tina while entering the elevator. As soon as the elevator doors closed, their call was interrupted. Seeing the elevator descending rapidly, Kiko thought she was in danger this time. Suddenly, Ouyang's figure appeared on the elevator's display screen.
Kiko asked Ouyang in confusion how he obtained network access to Wipay Company. Ouyang reminded Kiko if she remembered the necklace he gave her. Kiko looked at the necklace around her neck and finally understood why Ouyang knew her whereabouts so well. Kiko asked Ouyang if he killed Qiao Qingshan, but Ouyang denied it and reminded her that survivors were a group of people. He told her not to focus only on him and gave her a small hint before disappearing.
Following Ouyang's hint, Kiko found another body in the elevator shaft. The person was the janitor, Lao Jie. Seeing Lao Jie's body, Kiko immediately realized that Huang Hai had been set up. And the person behind Huang Hai's setup was likely Chen Jinghan, one of the three brothers. Kiko analyzed that on that day, Chen Jinghan intentionally sabotaged the elevator, and the real target was probably Huang Hai. When Huang Hai, who was drunk, went to argue with Qiao Qingshan and saw Lao Jie in the corridor wearing the clothes Qiao Qingshan had given him, Huang Hai mistook Lao Jie for Qiao Qingshan.
Qiao Qingshan should have been killed before Lao Jie fell from the elevator. After Lao Jie fell, Chen Jinghan deliberately placed Qiao Qingshan's body on the lower level. This led Huang Hai to mistakenly believe that he had killed Qiao Qingshan, and the forensic autopsy report confirmed this. There were signs of blunt force trauma to the back of Qiao Qingshan's head. Kiko analyzed that Chen Jinghan's purpose in doing all this was nothing more than a power grab. Now his only competitor was Director Qiao. When Lin Sen heard Kiko's analysis, he realized that Director Qiao was not present and became aware that she might be in danger. He wanted to order Li Can to arrest Chen Jinghan, but Li Can asked Lin Sen to handle it himself.
Lin Sen learned that Wipay Company was in the process of selecting a new chairman and immediately rushed over with his men. Director Qiao returned home and was surprised to find Chen Jinghan in her house.
Chen Jinghan explicitly told her that he killed Qiao Qingshan and recounted the details of the murder to her. Stealing the vault of the Five United Financial was Chen Jinghan's big move, but the authority to transfer funds from Wipay Company was in Qiao Qingshan's hands. He tried to persuade Qiao Qingshan to transfer the money to him, but Qiao Qingshan not only refused, but also intended to surrender on behalf of Wipay Company. In a fit of anger, he killed Qiao Qingshan.
Director Qiao, upon hearing Chen Jinghan's words, pulled out her gun to avenge her father. Chen Jinghan pointed the gun at his own head, urging her to shoot quickly. Just then, Lin Sen and his men burst in. Lin Sen advised Director Qiao not to act impulsively. As Director Qiao was about to put away the gun, Chen Jinghan suddenly snatched it from her. Seeing this, Lin Sen shot and killed him.
After Chen Jinghan was killed, everyone thought the case had come to an end, but an unexpected event occurred. A survivor wearing a mask took over all public network channels and informed everyone that the vampires of the Five United Financial had taken the money that should have belonged to the people for themselves. Now he was going to return the money to them. Each person's Wipay account would receive a large sum of money in twenty minutes—it was what they deserved.
Kiko also despised those vampires. She knew that the survivor wearing the mask was Ouyang. At first, she didn't know whether she should stop him, but then she suddenly realized a problem. If Ouyang deposited 1 million into each person's account, it would not only cause inflation but also lead to more violence in society. In the end, she decided to intervene and stop him.
Ouyang realized that his plan had failed when he saw that the operation didn't succeed. He knew that Kiko had ruined his and Chen Jinghan's plan. Kiko went to meet Ouyang and explained to him, solving his confusion. She was able to successfully stop him thanks to the necklace he had given her. Just as Kiko left, several police cars arrived at Ouyang's residence. Kiko and Tina were discussing how the government should handle the money from the Five United Financial, considering it ill-gotten gains, when Director Qiao suddenly sent her a message.
Director Qiao informed Kiko that she had resigned from her position as director and taken over Wipay Company. The money was already in the process of being refunded. She knew that there was a mysterious organization behind the Five United Financial and hoped that Kiko could help investigate who was controlling that organization. (End of the drama)
