Episode 3 recap: Li Bing met Qiu Qing Zhi again.
On the way back, several brothers from Mingjing Hall recalled what the old fortune teller had said. Upon reflection, they found his words to be reasonable and worth considering. After returning, they started to discuss their plans again, aiming to ensure that nothing would go wrong and no unexpected problems would arise. On the other hand, when Li Bing heard people nearby discussing not wanting to hide, he agreed with their idea. After some thought, he decided that it would be better to have some rules in place. So he continued to discuss with the people next to him and demanded that everything during this period be kept secret, and that all plans should be decided by him.
At this point, the two quickly reached an agreement. Li Bing was also preparing to go and help the little girl find her biological parents. Just as Chen Shi was about to leave, the people next to him pulled him back and asked him to go and change into new clothes first. Otherwise, he would attract attention if he went out looking conspicuous. The little girl agreed after hearing what he said.
When the people from Mingjing Hall went to see the boss, they thought something good was going to happen, but soon realized it wasn't the case. They obviously didn't expect that after the other party finished speaking cryptically, they would suddenly get to the point and give them three days to solve the case of the demon cat murders. Otherwise, they wouldn't get any rewards. The faces of the three people immediately changed upon hearing this, and they realized they were about to face a difficult task. Bound by the orders of the person in front of them, they reluctantly agreed, though they felt discontented but dared not express it openly.
After leaving, Li Bing took the people next to him and confidently appeared on the street. Chen Shi was still a little worried about how to find the little girl's family, but the people next to him were not at all flustered. They discovered the location of the girl's residence through the tambourine she was holding and took her straight home. When the old man heard the sound, he recognized the girl's identity, but her father had already suffered a fatal injury. Upon hearing that the girl had been killed by the demon cat, Li Bing continued to inquire. He became angry when he learned that the officials from the Dali Temple were treating the murder case as an incident caused by the demon cat. Before leaving, he assured them that he would help the little girl seek revenge and told them to come to him for help whenever they needed it.
On the way out, Li Bing's expression became serious. He quickly took the person next to him and prepared to go to the house to investigate the situation. Unexpectedly, they encountered General Qiu Qing Zhi. In a moment of desperation, Li Bing instructed the person next to him to reprimand the general, and they breathed a sigh of relief when they saw him leave. Afterwards, they quickly arrived at the underground passage and continued to move forward, paying attention to everything in the room. Chen Shi, who had come to help, was suddenly frightened by the corpse covered inside and almost vomited. He couldn't bear the disgusting scene and had the urge to avoid it. He directly asked Li Bing if he had anything with a strong smell because he couldn't stand the odor. But when he chewed on what Li Bing gave him, he found it strange. It seemed to remove the smell but had a hint of mustard flavor. Li Bing choked upon hearing that and realized that he had misunderstood Chen Shi.
Li Bing felt that something was strange about this situation. The demon cat had obviously been attacked by other wild animals, but he couldn't quite put it into words. Chen Shi mentioned that his belongings were still there, which made Li Bing feel even more uneasy. Everyone agreed that the timeframe for solving this case was too short and it couldn't be resolved properly. Li Bing encountered the fortune teller who had been harassed by others but helped him, so he asked the fortune teller to provide him with clues.
Li Bing asked the fortune teller to answer his questions. The fortune teller revealed that there had been a demon cat case three years ago, but it was hastily closed due to lack of evidence. The small team felt that they were carrying the burden of this case. Some people who wanted to make unjust gains took advantage of the demon cat case to cause trouble. Li Bing also agreed with the fortune teller's assessment that the Dali Temple was ineffective.
Everyone was discussing the idea of retreat when they became apprehensive upon hearing that Lord Shangguan had overheard them. Li Bing instructed the fortune teller to go to the Dali Temple to deliver a message and collect the reward. The fortune teller, seeing that Li Bing's demeanor didn't seem like he was deceiving him, decided to help. On the other hand, the Minister of Personnel still believed that the Dali Temple should have someone in charge of the case.
