Episode 17 recap: Old Zhou Finds Out That Zhou Quan Is a Stay-at-Home Dad

In Episode 17, the weekend arrived. Che Li managed to take some time out of her busy schedule to take Zhou Aiwen out for some fun. Zhou Quan had meticulously planned their outing in advance, but Che Li was on the phone the whole time, constantly making work arrangements. When they reached the scenic spot, Zhou Quan accompanied Zhou Aiwen, while Che Li was busy working on her laptop. Zhou Aiwen didn't enjoy himself much, and Zhou Quan held back his anger until they got home.

Che Li also felt wronged. She had been working tirelessly to support the family, but not only did Zhou Quan fail to understand her, he also heavily criticized her. The two got into a heated argument, and in a fit of anger, Zhou Quan quit his job as a stay-at-home dad and stormed out. Zhou Quan went to Yuan Yi's place to vent. Yuan Yi gently persuaded him, and Zhou Quan decided to stay there for a few days to cool off.

The next morning, Che Li woke up at 8 AM and hurriedly got Zhou Aiwen ready for school. Despite their haste, they still ended up being late. In her rush, Che Li had forgotten to pack Zhou Aiwen's math textbook. She apologized profusely to him. At Yuan Yi's place, Zhou Quan was bored, so he just played games to pass the time. When he went out, he didn't have any money, so he asked Yuan Yi to buy him some fresh underwear and socks.

Che Li picked up Zhou Aiwen from kindergarten, but she still had unfinished work. Feeling overwhelmed, she called Li Zihui and Meng Fei to help. She was impatient with Zhou Aiwen, who kept asking for Zhou Quan. Che Li ended up sending Zhou Aiwen to her mother's house for dinner. Che Li had no appetite, and her mother noticed something was troubling her. Zhou Aiwen then revealed that Zhou Quan had moved out. Upon learning the situation, Che Li's mother scolded her harshly, but Che Li argued back.

Zhou Quan took Yuan Yi out for drinks to calm his nerves, but he was worried about Zhou Aiwen. Zhou Aiwen secretly called Zhou Quan to complain, which made Zhou Quan feel uneasy. He promised to return home and have Zhou Aiwen convince Che Li to come back. After dinner, Che Li's mother advised her to try to understand Zhou Quan's difficulties.

Suddenly, Zhou Aiwen insisted on going home to sleep. Che Li couldn't refuse, so she took him back. Zhou Quan had been waiting, and Zhou Aiwen told him that Zhou Quan had asked him to bring Che Li home. Che Li and Zhou Quan exchanged a smile, and all their resentment dissipated. They tucked Zhou Aiwen into bed together.

Zhou Aiwen claimed he was sleepy, so he asked Che Li and Zhou Quan to go to their room. They apologized to each other and reconciled. The next weekend, Meng Fei wanted to take Che Li to Fujian to discuss a business collaboration. Che Li wanted to stay home with Zhou Quan and Zhou Aiwen, and she was willing to turn down the opportunity if the client couldn't change the schedule. Che Li had never regretted having Zhou Aiwen.

Soon, another weekend arrived. Che Li put aside all her work and wholeheartedly accompanied Zhou Aiwen and Zhou Quan on an outing. She even watched Zhou Aiwen's ice hockey match, and he played very well, making Zhou Quan very proud. Meng Fei scheduled Che Li to attend a business event in Beijing the following weekend, and Che Li decided to take Zhou Quan and Zhou Aiwen with her, much to their delight.

An old colleague saw a video of the Zhou family on TV and showed it to Old Zhou. Old Zhou couldn't believe that Zhou Quan, a prestigious 985 university graduate, was willingly staying at home as a full-time dad. He vehemently denied it. Che Li, Zhou Quan, and Zhou Aiwen boarded the plane to Beijing, and Zhou Quan started dozing off as soon as he got on the plane. Old Zhou called Zhou Quan, but his phone was turned off. Zhou Quan's wife, Shen Xiulan, also couldn't reach him. Old Zhou wanted to drown his sorrows in alcohol but felt embarrassed, so he just sulked at home.
