Episode 21 recap: Zhou Quan and Che Li Grow Suspicious of Each Other

In episode 21, Meng Fei has been working late and coming home late every day. Today, she surprisingly gets off work on time. Her husband Yuan Yi has cooked her a steak dinner and prepared red wine, hoping to spend a romantic evening with her. However, Meng Fei seems distracted, as she suspects that Lin Qing is eyeing Che Li in an inappropriate way. Lin Qing has been introducing clients to them and even invited Che Li to join them for a meal.

Meng Fei grows increasingly paranoid, worried that Lin Qing has ulterior motives towards Che Li. Yuan Yi tries to reassure her, saying it's normal for talented people like Che Li to have admirers. Meng Fei asks Yuan Yi to remind Zhou Quan, but he thinks it's unnecessary and will only cause unnecessary trouble. After dinner, Che Li prepares to take a taxi home, but heavy rain starts pouring, so Lin Qing offers to drive her home.

Zhou Quan sees the heavy rain and wants to go pick up Che Li, but then Yuzhuangzhuang suddenly calls him about a job posting, and her drunken husband Li Jian angrily storms out to confront Zhou Quan. Meanwhile, Zhou Quan sees Lin Qing dropping Che Li off, which leaves him feeling jealous and suspicious.

When Li Jian gets home, he aggressively scolds Zhou Quan, warning him not to call Yuzhuangzhuang again. Zhou Quan tries to explain the situation to his father, but his father doesn't believe him. Che Li believes in Zhou Quan's character, but she is upset that he confided in Yuzhuangzhuang instead of her.

Yuzhuangzhuang blames Li Jian for overreacting, but he stubbornly defends himself. Seeing Che Li's displeasure, Zhou Quan tries to explain himself, but she is hurt that he revealed his frustrations to Yuzhuangzhuang rather than her.

The argument escalates, with Zhou Quan bringing up how Lin Qing used to pursue Che Li, which he still resents. Che Li accuses Zhou Quan of being petty. They end up in a heated argument.

Che Li discusses with Meng Fei about selling books on their public account. Meng Fei worries the sales won't be good, and says the books will be automatically taken down if they don't sell 1,000 copies within a week. Che Li promotes the book "The Moon and Sixpence" to their fans in simple, accessible language.

Zhou Quan wants to apologize to Che Li but can't bring himself to. Che Li ends up selling 1,000 copies of the book quickly, but Meng Fei thinks the profits are too low and advises Che Li to sell different products. Che Li insists on selling books, as it's what she enjoys.

Meng Fei discovers Che Li secretly bought the 1,000 copies herself. When Meng Fei confronts her, Che Li gets upset and leaves the office. Meng Fei is distressed, and Yuan Yi counsels her to be more understanding towards Che Li. Che Li stays at the office alone, feeling dejected. Meng Fei later brings her a late-night snack, and they make amends. Che Li decides to sell more profitable products going forward.

Zhou Quan feels bad that Che Li is staying at the office. He goes to vent to Yuan Yi, who advises him on dealing with the changed after-school policy for their son.
