Episode 22 recap: Cherie and Zhuan Quan's Growing Rift

In episode 22, Zhuan Quan feels a lack of purpose and is worried that Cherie might be attracted to someone else. Yuan Yi advises him not to overthink it. Suddenly, Zhuan Quan's father calls him, saying that Ai Wen refuses to attend the extra English class. Despite Zhuan Quan's efforts, he can't convince Ai Wen, so he rushes to the school and agrees to let Ai Wen skip the class, even taking him out to eat instead.

Meng Fei and Cherie discuss continuing to film their family's daily life, but Cherie is concerned about Zhuan Quan and Ai Wen being targeted by online harassment. Li Zi Liu and her colleagues analyze the data, finding that the hostility is actually directed at Cherie's family due to the studio's previous sale of fake Shengduo umbrellas. Putting that aside, the video's viewership is still high, so Cherie reluctantly agrees.

Zhuan Quan is in a bad mood and wants to take Ai Wen out for a fun day. They go to a fast-food restaurant and then to an amusement park, ending up at a planetarium exhibit that Ai Wen enjoys immensely. Ai Wen wants to share his happiness with Cherie, so he secretly messages her. Cherie leaves work early to cook dinner and even buys nutritional supplements for Zhuan Quan's parents. They are delighted, but Zhuan Quan's father expresses concern that Zhuan Quan is talking to flowers, worried that he's not mentally stable. Cherie thinks it's fine and says it's a popular online trend.

Zhuan Quan and Ai Wen return home, and Ai Wen is excited to see Cherie. The whole family has a warm, lively dinner together. Zhuan Quan tells Ai Wen a bedtime story, and Ai Wen is happy that Zhuan Quan didn't get mad at him for skipping school and instead took him out for a fun day, thinking Zhuan Quan is the best dad in the world.

Cherie shows Zhuan Quan the video his father sent, hoping he'll open up to her. She also shares her work-related troubles with him, and Zhuan Quan agrees to cooperate with Cherie's video recordings.

Cherie buys Zhuan Quan a suit, which he likes but feels he has no occasion to wear. He misinterprets this as Cherie thinking he dresses poorly, and she thinks he's being overly sensitive, as she just wants him to look presentable. This upsets Zhuan Quan.

Zhuan Quan takes Ai Wen to the studio to film a video, but Ai Wen doesn't want to act out the scripted scenes, so Zhuan Quan takes him home immediately. Cherie comes home late, unsure how to face Zhuan Quan, and ends up leaving without saying anything.

Cherie goes to Meng Fei's place, where she finds Meng Fei and Yuan Yi having dinner. Cherie eats the food and asks for wine, while Yuan Yi hides in the room, uncomfortable. Back home, Zhuan Quan's father criticizes him harshly, and Zhuan Quan argues with him as his mother sides with his father, leading to Zhuan Quan being forcefully sent away.
