Episode 28 recap: Xiulan Shen and Lao Zhou's Divorce

In episode 28, Mei and Cheli went to meet with client Mr. Xu to explain the situation. Mr. Xu was very displeased, complaining that Quan Zhou came out to clarify things too late, and he no longer wanted to continue the cooperation. Mei pleaded with Mr. Xu, but Mr. Xu expressed doubts about Cheli's persona and her team's capabilities, worried that more troubles would arise in the future. Cheli promised to handle the family issues well and hoped Mr. Xu wouldn't question their team's abilities, but Mei could tell Mr. Xu didn't want to cooperate, so he left with Cheli.

Lao Zhou suspected Xiulan Shen was seeing someone else, so he secretly followed her and saw her rehearsing with a male partner. Lao Zhou quickly took photos and then loudly confronted them in front of the choir members. Xiulan tried to persuade Lao Zhou to go home and discuss it calmly, but he refused, so in a fit of anger, Xiulan decided to divorce him, shocking Lao Zhou.

After dinner, Qiaoquiao was cleaning up the dishes and doing chores, while Jian Li was just sitting on the couch looking at his phone. Qiaoquiao wanted to enroll Nuo Mi in a daycare program, but Jian didn't hear her since he was on the phone, and Qiaoquiao couldn't be bothered to repeat herself.

Mei's parents summoned her back home to negotiate, pressuring her to marry Yiwi as soon as possible, threatening that otherwise they would move in with her. Mei refused, and when her parents proposed moving into her home, she firmly rejected that as well. She agreed to go home to stay, but her father demanded she be back by 9pm every night, which Mei strongly protested, quickly retreating to her room with the excuse of a business trip.

Xiulan and Lao Zhou went to the civil affairs bureau to file for divorce. The staff advised them to reconsider, but Xiulan had made up her mind. They were told to fill out forms and there would be a 30-day cooling off period before the formal divorce could be finalized. When Xiulan returned home to pack her things, Lao Zhou unexpectedly cooked dumplings for her, but they were a mess, and Xiulan had mixed feelings seeing his efforts.

Mei was forced to move back home to live with her parents. Yiwi hadn't seen Mei for days, so he secretly came to her building to meet her, but was caught by Mei's mother. Mei's mother wanted to have a serious talk with Yiwi, chasing Mei back home. She pressured Yiwi to marry Mei quickly, but Yiwi wanted to properly date and plan their future, promising not to take the relationship lightly. Mei's mother threatened to make them break up, so Yiwi agreed to discuss it further with Mei.

Mei's mother kept pushing Mei to get married, revealing Yiwi's thoughts. Mei firmly refused, even calling Yiwi to confront him, though he couldn't express his inner turmoil. Qiaoquiao was applying for jobs everywhere but hitting dead ends. Xiulan asked a real estate agent to help her find a place, but Lao Zhou desperately tried to stop her from moving out.

Mei invited Yiwi to dinner, but he flatly refused, not knowing how to face her. Mei was puzzled by his rejection, still longing for Yiwi, who had no contact with her. Distressed and not even able to eat, Mei's mother noticed her troubles and urged her to firmly hold onto Yiwi before it was too late.
