Episode 29 recap: Cherie Keeps Her Pregnancy a Secret from Zhouquan

In Episode 29, Mengfei just wants a passionate romance, she doesn't want to get married. Yuanyi used to be against marriage, but after meeting Mengfei, he developed a desire to start a family. Mengfei not only agreed, but also didn't want to make their relationship public, leading to an argument and a subsequent cold war between the two. Mengfei's mother learns of this and advises Mengfei to take the initiative to reconcile with Yuanyi, warning her that she'll lose someone who loves her. That night, Mengfei tosses and turns, unable to sleep, still thinking of Yuanyi. She ends up messaging him to meet in the park the next morning.

Cherie has a business trip the next day, and Zhouaiwen insists on sleeping with her. Zhouquan tells Zhouaiwen to go to bed early, and the family of three end up crammed into one bed. Li Jian learns that Yüqiaoqiao is having trouble finding a job, and pushes her to have a second child, even invoking his mother's opinion. His mother plans to come make fertility-boosting meals for Yüqiaoqiao, but Yüqiaoqiao wants to wait at least two years before having another child.

In the middle of the night, Cherie suddenly starts vomiting uncontrollably. Zhouquan wakes up and wants to take her to the hospital, but Cherie mistakenly thinks she just has an upset stomach and doesn't make a big deal of it. Zhouquan tenderly cares for her. Mengfei arrives at the park on time, and Yuanyi flies a kite with her, comparing her to the kite in the sky. Yuanyi knows Mengfei is afraid of commitment, and promises to be the string that protects her, which touches Mengfei.

After finalizing their divorce, Shenxiulan moves out of the house. For over 30 years, the elder Zhou had been pampered by Shenxiulan like a big baby, and his life is now a mess. He suddenly realizes Shenxiulan's value, and keeps making excuses to call her, but she is very impatient with him. Zhou comes to see Shenxiulan, bringing a bag of gifts, wanting to reconcile, but she turns him away at the door.

Lately, Cherie has had a great appetite and especially craves spicy food. Mengfei jokingly asks if she's pregnant, but Cherie thinks it's impossible. She video calls Zhouquan, and he teaches her some dietary remedies for stomach issues, planning to come back and cook them for her. Yüqiaoqiao finally found a job and is very happy, preparing a hot pot meal. But Li Jian gets angry, forbidding Yüqiaoqiao from working, and she angrily goes to her room without eating.

Mengfei and Cherie go see a client, and Cherie suddenly feels nauseous and vomits. She finds out she's pregnant, and Mengfei congratulates her, but Cherie isn't happy about it, unsure if she wants to keep the baby. She begs Mengfei not to tell Zhouquan yet. When Cherie returns from the business trip, Zhouquan has prepared a big spread of dishes to welcome her back, but Cherie claims she's too tired to eat.

During a meal with Yuanyi, Mengfei is distracted. Yuanyi persistently asks what's wrong, and Mengfei lies that she's pregnant, wanting to gauge Yuanyi's reaction. Yuanyi says he'll quit his job to take care of her, but Mengfei admits she was just joking. Zhouquan tenderly cares for the lethargic Cherie, who just wants to lie in bed. Yüqiaoqiao starts her new job, returning home late, but quickly lulls the restless Nuomi to sleep.

Li Jian complains in front of Yüqiaoqiao, urging her to quit her job. Yüqiaoqiao just wants to prove herself and firmly refuses to quit. Li Jian claims he can't take care of Nuomi and wants to hire a nanny, but Yüqiaoqiao strongly opposes this. Early the next morning, Zhouquan tries to rouse Cherie to go to work, and Mengfei stays by Cherie's side, worried about her. Mengfei advises Cherie to tell Zhouquan about the pregnancy, but Cherie hasn't decided yet.

That night, Zhouquan prepares coffee for Cherie, but she can't drink it due to the pregnancy, yet doesn't want to openly acknowledge it. Yüqiaoqiao leaves early for work, and seeing it's almost time for school, she calls Li Jian to wake up and get Nuomi ready. Li Jian clumsily dresses, washes, brushes, and styles Nuomi, but ends up making a mess of it.
