Episode 30 recap: Cheli and Zhouquan Decide to Get Divorced

In Episode 30, Li Jian quickly dressed Nuomi in a sheer skirt and sandals before hurrying her off to school. Lao Zhou was desperately trying to win over Shen Xiulan, bringing her a potted flower every day. He had enrolled in a photography class just to take pictures of Shen Xiulan, and he even wanted to join the choir so he could be her singing partner. When Lao Zhou went to sign up for the choir, he insisted on being paired with Shen Xiulan, but she refused. Lao Zhou kept trying to impress the choir director, who eventually agreed to let him be Shen Xiulan's partner.

Cheli went to the hospital for a pregnancy checkup, and the baby was developing normally. Meng Fei had signed an ad campaign for a bridal wear company, and Cheli, who had never worn a wedding dress on her own wedding day, wanted to do the photo shoot so she could surprise Zhouquan later. On the day of the shoot, Cheli showed up in a wedding gown and the director had her run from the car to the set. Meng Fei was worried the running would be dangerous for Cheli's pregnancy, and she argued extensively with the director, but to no avail. Cheli didn't want to cause trouble for the client, so she agreed to do the one short run.

Cheli completed the shoot successfully, but then unexpectedly suffered a miscarriage. Meng Fei rushed her to the hospital, where Zhouquan learned for the first time that Cheli had been pregnant - and that she had kept it a secret from him. Zhouquan was heartbroken. He stayed by Cheli's side as she recovered, but didn't speak to her. Cheli felt incredibly guilty and eventually confessed to Zhouquan that she had considered not keeping the baby. Zhouquan flew into a rage, and Cheli had no defense.

Later, Cheli and Zhouquan silently sat together in the yard, and that night Cheli embraced Zhouquan, but he ignored her. The couple's cold war continued, and Cheli eventually proposed divorce. Zhouquan readily agreed, offering to move out and let Cheli keep the house, money, and custody of their son Zhouaiwen. Cheli wanted Zhouaiwen to stay with Zhouquan, so they agreed to share custody. Zhouquan asked Cheli to keep the divorce a secret from their families and Zhouaiwen.

Unbeknownst to them, Zhouaiwen overheard Zhouquan looking for a new place to live and realized his parents were separating. He called Nuomi, upset about the prospect of his parents divorcing. Meanwhile, Yuqiaoqiao had gotten paid and bought new dresses for both Nuomi and Li Jian, who was delighted.

When Cheli and Zhouquan told Zhouaiwen about the divorce, they assured him they would still love him as before. Zhouaiwen accepted the news calmly, without crying or fussing, but his parents felt uneasy about it.
