The Episode Review

Episode 6 of "As Husband as Wife" continues to showcase the complex family dynamics at the heart of the show. The central conflict between Zhou Quan and Che Li over how to raise their son Ai Wen drives much of the episode's plot, as the two parents argue and vie for Ai Wen's support.

The writers do an excellent job of balancing the marital tension with humorous and heartwarming moments. The family's impromptu voting sessions on parenting decisions add levity, while Che Li's emotional speech during her book event in Nanjing provides a touching, sincere look at Zhou Quan's decision to be a stay-at-home dad.

Supporting characters like Ai Wen's aunt Liu and editor Meng Fei also get interesting storylines that add depth to the overall narrative. Liu's office politics and Meng Fei's stress over Che Li's manuscript provide engaging subplots.

Ultimately, Episode 6 succeeds in furthering the show's exploration of modern marriage and parenting, with the central couple's disagreements feeling authentic and their eventual compromise feeling earned.
