Episode 8 recap: Meng Fei and Yuan Yi Compete for Che Li
In this episode, Zhou Quan and Guan Jun worked well together to quickly complete the song "Heavenly Match". Guan Jun was so impressed that he decided to hire Zhou Quan for a project. When Zhou Quan returned home late, he happily reported the good news to his wife Che Li, who congratulated him and even gave him a new book with a cartoon drawing on the cover by their son Ai Wen.
Meanwhile, Zhou Quan's retired father was bored at home and played chess with an old colleague. The colleague bragged about his son's digital camera bought from the US, much to Zhou Quan's father's envy. At work, Meng Fei received an award from the company president, much to the jealousy of her coworker Liu Jie.
Che Li planned a parent-child activity, but Zhou Quan was busy working on the project Guan Jun had given him. He creatively taught their son Ai Wen idioms through games, which Ai Wen enjoyed. However, Che Li's mother strongly disagreed with this approach. Luckily, Che Li stepped in and joined the games, which the whole family ended up enjoying together.
Later, Che Li's mother tried to teach Ai Wen the idioms Zhou Quan's way, but struggled. Zhou Quan pointed out Ai Wen's mistakes, encouraging him to find his own solutions. Feeling unappreciated, Che Li's mother vented to her friends about the difficulties of raising her daughter and grandson. Her friends advised her to be kinder to herself.
In the end, Ai Wen decided to make a bowl of noodles to apologize to his grandmother. Zhou Quan helped, tricking the grandmother into returning home. Ai Wen sincerely apologized, and they ate the noodles together. Che Li and Zhou Quan also looked into extracurricular activities for Ai Wen, not wanting him to fall behind his peers.
