Episode 19 recap: Song, the divine doctor, conducted experiments using living people.
Huo Xing Chen remembered Jiang Bu Ting and wanted to elope with him. The two of them ran to the riverside, but Mu Bing He chased after them, wanting Huo Xing Chen to return to him. To avoid being disturbed by Mu Bing He, Jiang Bu Ting intentionally prevented Huo Xing Chen from speaking to him.
Jiang Bu Ting told Mu Bing He that he had taken the initiative, and as long as Huo Xing Chen encountered him, she would still leave Mu Bing He. Mu Bing He told Jiang Bu Ting not to be too confident and that if he killed both of them, the dream would enter a new cycle, and everything would start over again. Huo Xing Chen would still be his wife. After saying this, Mu Bing He picked up a sword and was about to kill them. Jiang Bu Ting told Huo Xing Chen that this was the boundary of the dream, and although he was afraid of water, they had to rely on water to escape. With that, he kissed Huo Xing Chen and fell into the water.
After Jiang Bu Ting woke up and looked at the surroundings, he realized that he was still in a dream, which puzzled him. Later, he realized that only when Mu Bing He woke up would everything end. Huo Xing Chen also felt strange because logically, as long as she was conscious, she should be able to break free from the dream. However, the two of them had entered another cycle of dreams.
Just then, Mu Bing He approached them with a sword. Huo Xing Chen stopped Jiang Bu Ting and questioned Mu Bing He if he had been deceiving her all along. Whenever she felt something was wrong, he would change her thoughts. He knew that everything was a dream but was unwilling to return to reality.
After hearing Huo Xing Chen's words, Mu Bing He clearly told her that he wanted to stay with her in this dream. As long as he killed Jiang Bu Ting, no one would disturb them anymore. Saying this, he raised his sword and charged towards Jiang Bu Ting but was stopped by Huo Xing Chen. Seeing her, Mu Bing He would rather die than harm Jiang Bu Ting, so he committed suicide with tears in his eyes.
After Mu Bing He's suicide, the three of them woke up from the dream. Xiao Yu and Chen Ji were very happy to see them awake. Seeing so many strange people in the town, they asked why they didn't go to seek treatment from the divine doctor Song. However, Xiao Yu warned them not to mention the name of the divine doctor Song in Huai Shu Town, as it would easily attract attacks from the strange people. Jiang Bu Ting wanted to know why, and Xiao Yu explained the story of accompanying A Jie to seek treatment from the divine doctor Song.
Chen Ji initially held onto the illusion and, like the other patients, followed the arrangements of the divine doctor Song. However, he later discovered that the divine doctor Song had no intention of saving them at all. Instead, he treated them as experimental subjects for developing new drugs. If it weren't for his fast escape, Chen Ji would probably have lost his life long ago. Jiang Bu Ting couldn't believe that their master would do such a thing and, when A Jie escaped, she stole some pills that the divine doctor Song had developed and brought them back to the town to show the physician. The physician said that some of these pills were supplements, while others were poisonous and not meant for awakening people.
Jiang Bu Ting was in a bad mood and went alone to the forest to brood. He thought that their master had been very good to him, and even if the master did such things, others could hate him, but he couldn't. In Jiang Bu Ting's view, the reason the master used living people for experiments must be to develop a medicine that would allow him to survive. Thinking of this, he felt very self-blaming, feeling that he had caused trouble for their master.
At this moment, Jiang Bu Ying came over and told him that the divine doctor Song was at the Zhai Xing Gate. Jiang Bu Ting decided to go to the Zhai Xing Gate and find the master to ask for an explanation. The group arrived at the Zhai Xing Gate and indeed saw the divine doctor Song there. Jiang Bu Ting explicitly told the master that he didn't want the master to harm others in order to save him. However, the divine doctor Song believed that it was not a bad thing to let these strange people contribute to the medical path. Hearing the master say such words that went against human ethics, Jiang Bu Ting thought he must have been manipulated by someone and tried to advise him not to make more mistakes. But the divine doctor Song refused to listen to his nagging and secretly poisoned him.
After Jiang Bu Ting was poisoned, his consciousness immediately became blurred. The divine doctor Song picked up a bowl of newly prepared medicine and was about to force it down Jiang Bu Ting's throat when Huo Xing Chen rushed over and knocked the medicine over. Instead of getting angry at the scene, the divine doctor Song asked Huo Xing Chen to stay and participate in his research. Huo Xing Chen wanted to draw her sword but was rendered powerless and unable to move due to the incense's effect.
