Episode 14 recap: Mu Bai Gets Injured
Wen Lan reveals that Zhuang Rou is Zhuang Wen Cheng's illegitimate daughter, but Zhuang Wen Cheng claims that Zhuang Rou is his biological child with his ex-wife. He explains that he only brought the child back after Wen Qing's death. Zhuang Wen Cheng wants the shareholders to vote to dismiss Wen Lan. The current vote is tied at 4:4. Mu Bai arrives and expresses his disagreement.
Mu Bai has just purchased shares in the research institute and now has the right to vote, giving him one vote. The vote count becomes 5:4. President Huo mentions that Wen Qing warned him to be careful of Zhuang Wen Hua before her death, and there are suspicions about the cause of her death. He argues that they should not dismiss Wen Lan and instead thoroughly investigate her cause of death.
Wen Lan asks Zhuang Wen Cheng to clarify the events of this period. Zhuang Wen Hua becomes extremely angry and tries to strike Wen Lan with a glass, but Mu Bai intervenes and ends up getting injured. Wen Lan is surprised by this. Mu Bai wakes up in the hospital, and Wen Lan is by his side, thanking him for what happened today. Mu Bai hopes that Wen Lan will give him another chance to pursue her.
Zhuang Wen Cheng has accumulated a significant amount of debt while buying shares in the research institute. Many people come to collect debts, so Zhuang Wen Cheng has to hide with his wife and child. Zhuang Rou and her mother refuse to endure hardships with Zhuang Wen Cheng and decide to return to their hometown, asking him not to come looking for them anymore. Zhuang Wen Cheng starts coughing and suddenly vomits blood.
