Episode 16 recap: Mu Bai Confesses to Wen Lan
The research institute has signed a contract with Mu Si Group. Zhuang Wen Cheng rushes over to find Wen Lan, asking her to save him. Zhuang Wen Cheng claims to be sick, but Wen Lan doesn't believe him and thinks he's lying. Zhuang Wen Cheng reveals that he knows Mu Bai still has feelings for Wen Lan and offers to convince her to remarry him if Mu Bai gives him one million yuan.
Wen Lan becomes even angrier upon hearing this and pulls Mu Bai away. Zhuang Wen Cheng is disappointed and faints. Mu Bai informs Wen Lan that the surgery has been arranged. Wen Lan thanks Mu Bai and feels embarrassed for making him witness the situation.
Wen Lan shares that she used to be afraid of Mother's Day as a child because she didn't have a mother, and later she became afraid of Father's Day as she didn't know when her father would no longer be hers. Mu Bai assures Wen Lan that her mother is watching over her from heaven and would be proud to see her in her current state. Shi Xun calls Shi Chu over and asks if he willingly accepts Wen Lan being with Mu Bai.
Mu Bai wants to take advantage of the situation and asks Wen Lan out. Wen Lan says she is available on Saturday evening. Li Mingxuan takes Mu Bai shopping for clothes, and Mu Bai dresses up nicely. When Wen Lan sees Mu Bai, she mentions that she still likes this place. Mu Bai and Wen Lan ride the Ferris wheel together, and Mu Bai takes out a ring, expressing that he has finally waited for this day. He admits to having misunderstood Wen Lan in the past and hopes she will give him another chance.
