Episode 18 recap: Liu Yan saves Mu Zhuo Hua.

The steward informs County Magistrate Zhuang that someone has seen Mu Zhuo Hua returning. Mu Zhuo Hua asks how Ba Mei (his sister) is doing, and Ba Mei expresses that she is very happy and thanks Qi Jie (Rou Jia) for that. Ba Mei proposes a toast to Mu Zhuo Hua, and after he drinks it, he faints. Mu Zhuo Hua is then kidnapped, but Liu Yan arrives in time to rescue him.

The villagers come over to thank Princess Rou Jia and Mu Zhuo Hua. They say that if it weren't for them, they wouldn't have food now and they have prepared some things to give to them. County Magistrate Zhuang scolds Mu Ba and hits him, saying that he should go serve his mother. He criticizes Mu Ba for being lazy and not even knowing how to give birth to a child. Mu Ba defends himself, blaming County Magistrate Zhuang for the child not surviving and explaining that he recently had a miscarriage and came back feeling unwell, but County Magistrate Zhuang still berated him. Unexpectedly, County Magistrate Zhuang becomes even angrier and beats Mu Ba.

The steward sees Mu Zhuo Hua and informs County Magistrate Zhuang that Mu Zhuo Hua has returned. County Magistrate Zhuang is also surprised and declares that Mu Zhuo Hua is his concubine who escaped, and he must capture Mu Zhuo Hua and bring him back. Mu Ba also hears the news of Mu Zhuo Hua's return and is greatly astonished.

Mu Ba approaches Mu Zhuo Hua and invites him to have tea. Mu Zhuo Hua asks how Ba Mei is doing, and Ba Mei expresses that she is very happy and thanks Qi Jie for that. Ba Mei proposes a toast to Mu Zhuo Hua, and after he drinks it, he faints. Mu Ba blames Mu Zhuo Hua for the whole situation, questioning why he would return after escaping and allowing County Magistrate Zhuang to see him. It turns out that County Magistrate Zhuang, upon hearing that Mu Zhuo Hua had returned, forced Mu Ba to find and bring Mu Zhuo Hua back.

Mu Zhuo Hua woke up and noticed the County Magistrate was present, realizing something was wrong. She explained that she didn't want to elope; she was actually knocked unconscious and sent away against her will. Since she was already accused of eloping, she decided it would be better to go to the capital and take the imperial examination. Mu Zhuo Hua revealed that she went to the mountains with her eighth sister and that her sister had a liking for the County Magistrate. That's why her sister knocked her out and sent her away, hoping to marry the County Magistrate herself.

The County Magistrate was furious and called Mu Ba over. Without listening to Mu Ba's explanation, he immediately ordered his men to take Mu Ba away and lock him up. Mu Zhuo Hua emphasized that it was an important day for them and asked the County Magistrate to send some rouge and powder for her to dress up. She wanted to look her best. The County Magistrate wanted to stay, but Mu Zhuo Hua insisted on giving him a surprise and asked him to leave first.

After the County Magistrate left, Mu Zhuo Hua jumped out of the window. She saw Zhi Jian there and believed that if the official grain was missing, it was likely connected to the County Magistrate. She discovered a secret room in the County Magistrate's residence and found the official grain hidden in a concealed compartment along with account books.

The County Magistrate arrived and commented that Mu Zhuo Hua couldn't stay out of trouble. Mu Zhuo Hua called Zhi Jian over, and they fought against the County Magistrate. Eventually, Mu Zhuo Hua was taken away by the County Magistrate's men. Zhi Jian sent a signal, and Mu Zhuo Hua was kidnapped. Liu Yan arrived and rescued her. Mu Zhuo Hua ran to Liu Yan and hugged him.

Liu Yan possessed two types of power, the Yuan Luo Flower and Xue Chen Dan, which had been in balance. However, when he used his internal energy this time, the balance was disrupted, and Liu Yan fainted. Mu Zhuo Hua brought Liu Yan to the Mu family's residence, revealing her identity as their daughter, which surprised Mu Lao Ye. Mu Zhuo Hua asked Mu Lao Ye for a specific medicine, and he hesitated. She offered to help him resolve the matter with the County Magistrate in return, which made Mu Lao Ye very happy, and he gave her the medicine.

Mu Zhuo Hua spoke about her family situation, explaining that her father had taken many concubines, and her mother was not favored. They could only live in a small room. The County Magistrate was the only family she had besides her mother. Liu Yan overheard the conversation and commented on it, saying that he had always known that one shouldn't rely on men for hope.
