Episode 5 recap: Liu Yan probes Mu Zhuo Hua
With the college entrance examination approaching, Mu Zhuo Hua is studying at home and has brought Shen Jing Hong's collection of poems, which she has printed into a booklet and sent Guo Ju Li to sell on the street, earning a good amount of money. Guo Ju Li takes Mu Zhuo Hua to the Fuyun Temple, claiming that the Bodhisattva there is very efficacious, and many scholars come here to pray, hoping to pass their exams.
Mu Zhuo Hua and Guo Ju Li enter the main hall and see many people making requests to the Bodhisattva. They decide to simply wish the Bodhisattva joy every day. As they come out, they happen to meet Liu Yan. Mu Zhuo Hua pretends to have a stomachache and asks Guo Ju Li to wait for her there while she goes to find Liu Yan. Shen Jing Hong invites Rou Jia Gong Zhu to the Fuyun Temple, and Rou Jia Gong Zhu says she will come if she has time. Shen Jing Hong has been waiting for a long time but hasn't seen Rou Jia Gong Zhu, feeling very disappointed.
Liu Yan says he went to the hospital to inquire but found that nobody knows about the "huanyang powder." He asks Mu Zhuo Hua where she learned about it. Mu Zhuo Hua says her mother told her about it and that Liu Yan should have already investigated his own background. She learned all these abilities from her mother, but her mother doesn't remember anything about the past, so it remains a mystery for her. Besides coming to the capital for the exam, Mu Zhuo Hua also wants to unravel these mysteries.
Mu Zhuo Hua suggests that if Liu Yan can't find the "huanyang powder," he could try searching for the "zhixian fruit," which is extremely precious and only possessed by the royal families of various countries. Liu Yan says he doesn't believe Mu Zhuo Hua but believes in the love between parents and children. Shen Jing Hong recites many poems, earning admiration from many scholars, and even the Crown Prince comes and is very satisfied with Shen Jing Hong.
Mu Zhuo Hua talks to Liu Yan about this matter, mentioning that although Shen Jing Hong is famous, he lacks a certain integrity. Zhi Jian comes to find Mu Zhuo Hua, and although she doesn't know why Liu Yan wants to see her, she follows Zhi Jian. Liu Yan says he wants Mu Zhuo Hua to accompany him to see a corpse. Mu Zhuo Hua points out that the college entrance examination is approaching, and she might not be able to come back in time. Liu Yan says they can travel swiftly on horseback and reach there in a day. Since Mu Zhuo Hua doesn't know how to ride a horse, Liu Yan suggests she ride with him.
The group arrives at the location, and Mu Zhuo Hua examines the corpse. She finds that the fractures and injuries caused by eagle-claw-like weapons on the body are not fatal, but she discovers a puncture wound on the head, which could be lethal. Mu Zhuo Hua doesn't know who this person is. Liu Yan reveals that five years ago, this person sent him false intelligence, and he recently found his daughter, Yun Xiang Yue – she is his daughter.
