Episode 4 recap: Lv Yan concluded that Zhang Ya would not commit suicide, and Cheng Nuo accepted An Qiu's criticism of himself.
That day, Zhang Ya called and said she wanted to terminate the research. She asked Lv Yan to come to the research lab. When Lv Yan arrived, he saw a figure hurriedly leaving. He quickly went to the data room to check if his files were safe. At that moment, someone shouted that Dr. Zhang had jumped off the building. However, Lv Yan determined that Zhang Ya would never jump off the building. It was a deliberate murder. He had been hiding all these years to prevent himself from being silenced. He appeared at the scene to see if the replicants he knew had been killed.
As for those children, they were orphans he had encountered along the way. Finally, Lv Yan told Cheng Nuo that this was all he could tell him. Cheng Nuo called Team Leader Gu and said he wanted to find someone named Li Yi. And what he thought of, An Qiu had already obtained for him. An Qiu and Cheng Nuo discussed that a person like Li Yi would definitely need to find a way to make a living to survive.
Cheng Nuo contacted a familiar intermediary to find out that Li Yi had previously worked at a freight company. He approached the boss, Huang Shipeng, to obtain Li Yi's contact information, but the phone was not working. However, they found it strange that Li Yi had taken temporary jobs elsewhere, but had stayed with Huang Shipeng for three months. Perhaps there were others like him there.
Huang Shipeng bought a cake because it was his daughter Huang Cong's birthday. Team Leader Gu sent Cheng Nuo Huang Shipeng's information, which included records of Huang Shipeng purchasing infertility drugs. They suspected that Huang Cong was likely a replicant. While celebrating his daughter's birthday, Huang Shipeng received a call from Cheng Nuo, saying that he would come to their home to investigate some issues the next day.
The following day, Cheng Nuo and An Qiu went to Huang Shipeng's house. They were very interested in Cong's background and asked many questions. When they asked why there was no information about Cong before she turned seven, Huang Shipeng explained that she went missing once before she turned three. Cheng Nuo suggested speaking with Huang Cong alone and immediately concluded that she was a replicant. However, Cong calmly dismissed them.
After analysis, Cheng Nuo concluded that Huang Shipeng was lying. He lied about not knowing anything about Li Yi. It seemed that unless they pressured him, he wouldn't tell the truth. Cheng Nuo used An Qiu's signature without permission to obtain the identification medicine. An Qiu knew what he was up to and quickly rushed to Huang Shipeng's house. As expected, Cheng Nuo was requesting to administer the medicine to Huang Cong. An Qiu intervened and persuaded Cheng Nuo to leave. Huang Shipeng asked An Qiu to stay and wanted to have a private conversation with her.
He told An Qiu that Li Yi had helped him with some financial matters in the past, and since then, he considered Li Yi as his family. Li Yi would often come to visit him, and he had just come a few days ago. Huang Shipeng said he shared this with An Qiu because he hoped they would stop disturbing Cong in the future. After An Qiu and Cheng Nuo left, Huang Shipeng calmed Cong down and put her to sleep. He then left the house, and his worried wife expressed concern about the person coming to ask them for money again, wondering when it would end. Huang Shipeng interrupted his wife and reminded her that Cong was still not asleep.
Cheng Nuo also investigated Li Yi's bank transactions and found that he had transferred money directly to Li Yi's account. Therefore, Cheng Nuo believed that Cong's situation must be related to Li Yi. However, after these incidents, Huang Shipeng's family became very resistant to Cheng Nuo. He wanted An Qiu's help to have another talk with Cong.
An Qiu was still angry about Cheng Nuo forging her signature. Cheng Nuo apologized, and An Qiu suggested they have a drinking contest. If he could outdrink her, she would agree to go and talk to Cong. In the end, Cheng Nuo couldn't outdrink An Qiu. She pointed out that his problem was being too impatient and resorting to any means necessary for success. He drank too quickly, which made him get drunk faster.
Cheng Nuo sensed that An Qiu had something else to say. He acknowledged that he had been too reckless and sincerely accepted An Qiu's advice. An Qiu agreed to help find Cong and have another conversation. When they mentioned the shantytown, An Qiu asked Cheng Nuo if he knew why there had been no progress in the redevelopment project for such a long time.
Cheng Nuo didn't know the reason. Perhaps it was because nobody had paid attention to that shantytown for a long time, and that's why Lv Yan was hiding there.
I think Cheng Nuo is an android because of his initial programming. That's why his mother takes his achievements for granted. His mother dedicates all her energy to her work in order to find a way to eliminate the initial obsession of androids, so that Cheng Nuo and other androids won't be taken away anymore.
However, the minister is a bad person and doesn't want that. That's why his mother is harmed.
