Episode 1 recap: The two brides accidentally boarded the wrong wedding sedan.
The story takes place in Yangzhou, where two families have arranged marriages for their daughters on an auspicious day. Li Yu Hu from the Li family is complaining to her parents about not wanting to marry General Yuan Bu Qu, which angers her parents. On the other hand, Du Bing Yan is also being forced to marry someone she doesn't like because the Du family needs money, so she agrees to marry the third son of the Qi family. In order to compete with the Du family, the Li family customizes the same wedding attire and wedding sedan for Li Yu Hu. Li's father even insists on leaving before the Du family.
Du Bing Yan changes into her wedding attire, tears streaming down her face. She says she is willing to marry the third son of the Qi family. However, Li Yu Hu refuses to board the wedding sedan and the matchmaker insists on covering her head with a red veil. Du Bing Yan's procession proceeds without her. The matchmaker hurriedly informs Li's father that Li Yu Hu has damaged the red veil. Li's father becomes anxious and tells Li Yu Hu that if she doesn't marry Yuan Bu Qu, they will not be spared. After her parents' pleading, Li Yu Hu reluctantly agrees to marry Yuan Bu Qu. The matchmaker brings a new red veil, and Li Yu Hu obediently covers her head and boards the wedding sedan. Meanwhile, Du Bing Yan's wedding procession arrives, and to compete with the Du family, the Li family intentionally blocks their way until Li Yu Hu comes out.
However, an unexpected rainstorm suddenly breaks out, despite it being a sunny day. Both wedding processions rush to seek shelter in a nearby temple due to the long distance. The two brides, Du Bing Yan and Li Yu Hu, arrive at the temple while everyone else has left. They are left alone in the temple. Li Yu Hu complains about the lack of monks in such a large temple and notices two maidservants chatting nearby. Li Yu Hu's maid, Xiao Xi, and Li Yu Hu's other maid, Mei Xiang, discuss the potential grooms for the two young ladies. They realize that one is heading south and the other is heading north.
Li Yu Hu lifts her veil and throws it on the table, but Du Bing Yan remains still. Li Yu Hu initiates a conversation with her and asks her to lift her veil as well. It is their first encounter, and they realize that their attire is identical. They feel a connection despite being different in background, with Du Bing Yan being a refined young lady. Both admire each other's fortunate marriages. Li Yu Hu, being skilled in martial arts, is not afraid. They empathize with each other for marrying someone they don't love and become sworn sisters in the temple. Li Yu Hu gives the betrothal gift from Yuan Bu Qu to Du Bing Yan, and Du Bing Yan gives Li Yu Hu her personal belongings.
At that moment, a monk arrives and informs them that a catastrophe is going to occur in the temple and urges them to leave quickly. Before the matchmaker enters, Du Bing Yan and Li Yu Hu cover each other's heads with veils. They separate and follow their respective wedding processions to their husbands' homes.
Xiao Xi assists the bride into the room, and when the bride lifts her veil, they are surprised to see Li Yu Hu instead of Du Bing Yan. Xiao Xi quickly informs Aunt Lin, who realizes that the veils were mistakenly swapped. On the other side, Mei Xiang also realizes the mistake. Du Bing Yan wants to quickly switch them back, but Mei Xiang speaks ill of Yuan Bu Qu, and Xiao Xi speaks negatively about the third son of the Qi family. They both hope that Li Yu Hu can help Du Bing Yan. After much consideration, Li Yu Hu agrees to help and decides to pretend to be Du Bing Yan.
Li Yu Hu thus joins the Qi family. Qi's third young master is already waiting for her in the main hall, and they go through the wedding ceremony, officially becoming husband and wife. However, before they even leave the hall, the third young master collapses on the ground, revealing himself to be seriously ill. Li Yu Hu uncovers her veil at night and takes a closer look at his face, only to be startled when he suddenly opens his eyes.
Apart from the better visual quality, this remake falls far behind the original in terms of casting, acting, styling, costumes, dialogue, and music. What's the point of this remake? Du Bing Yan is completely unsuitable for this role...
The dialogue constantly emphasizes the status of women, which feels awkward and out of place.
I watched a segment, and indeed, it's not as good as the old version. Classics will always remain classics, and even in remakes, they can't surpass the original. The charisma and spirit of the characters in the classic version are missing in the new version.
The new version features fresh faces, and the storyline has been slightly altered from the original. That's why I still prefer the plot of the old version.
When the wedding sedan chair departed, my eyes suddenly welled up with tears. At first, I thought it was because I felt sorry for the two women. But upon closer reflection, I realized it was my own reflection.
When I first watched "Marrying the Wrong Person, Marrying the Right Person," I was still a child. Now, I'm in my prime years, facing challenges in both my family and career, with an uncertain future ahead.
Let's raise a glass and continue to face it head-on.
Are you here to take a stroll again as a fan? According to the original plot, Da Chengzi should be more or less General Yuan, but I really want to see him play the role of the "sickly" Qi San Gongzi! Without Da Chengzi, what's the significance of the classic existence?
It is something that is revered and impossible to surpass. Everyone should just go their separate ways. As for certain fans who criticize me without even knowing if I've watched it, I haven't given a rating. The 3.8 rating has nothing to do with me.

This kind of setup is too unrealistic. In a family that has been in business for several generations, even if there is a decline in male descendants, the elders would rather adopt or have a legitimate son inherit the family business, rather than allowing an outsider to take over.
The contracts of the servants are in the hands of the main family, so how is it possible for them to all obey the commands of an outsider?
