Episode 3 recap: Qi Tian Lei suspected Li Yu Hu's identity.
Ya Huan brought the medicine and entered the room, only to find that the entire room was entangled with red threads. The laughter from earlier had disappeared, which surprised Fang Xiao Qiao. Fang Xiao Qiao gave the medicine to Qi Tian Lei and even wanted to watch him take it, but Qi Tian Lei cleverly diverted her attention. Later, Qi Tian Lei took Li Yu Hu to the garden specially built by his grandmother. However, Li Yu Hu accidentally mispronounced the name of the garden, which raised some doubts in Qi Tian Lei's mind. Qi Tian Lei, who considered Du Bing Yan to be knowledgeable and sensible, found it strange that Du Bing Yan mispronounced two words out of four. He started to suspect this "Du Bing Yan."
Afterward, Qi Tian Lei took Li Yu Hu upstairs to enjoy the scenery. To Li Yu Hu's surprise, Qi Tian Lei could see two graves beneath the beautiful view. While Li Yu Hu found it strange, Qi Tian Lei said it was a reminder to himself. Qi Tian Lei also had two pet white mice, which startled Li Yu Hu.
Since Yuan Bu Qu was not in the mansion, Du Bing Yan wandered around alone every day, followed closely by Ya Huan and the others. Du Bing Yan saw a room that piqued his curiosity and wanted to enter, but Ya Huan stopped him. However, Du Bing Yan forced his way in and discovered that it was the plaques of the two wives. Du Bing Yan was scared and Li Zhongguan came and drove him away.
Qi Tian Lei also suspected that Li Yu Hu was not the real Du Bing Yan and wondered if someone had deliberately switched them to cause trouble. Lao Tai Jun called Li Yu Hu to eat crabs, intending to have her recite elegant poetry. However, Li Yu Hu didn't know any and could only recite the street cries she heard in the marketplace. Fortunately, Lao Tai Jun liked it and didn't mind. Lao Tai Jun started composing her own poem, and Fang Xiao Qiao deliberately asked Li Yu Hu to recite one as well. Li Yu Hu looked at the crab-opening tools and remembered a martial arts phrase, so she improvised a variation of it. Fang Xiao Qiao then intentionally provoked Li Yu Hu by suggesting they go outside to appreciate chrysanthemums and paint. Li Yu Hu was completely speechless.
Li Yu Hu didn't know how to approach the chrysanthemums, but she suddenly came up with an idea and started painting on the paper. Fang Xiao Qiao deliberately asked Lao Tai Jun to see Li Yu Hu's painting, but to their surprise, both Mrs. Qi and Lao Tai Jun loved it. In reality, Li Yu Hu had simply picked a chrysanthemum and copied it onto the paper, but luckily, it went unnoticed.
Du Bing Yan wrote a letter to his parents, expressing his surprise at being in the wrong sedan chair. He believed that even if he hadn't been in the wrong sedan chair, he would have married an ill man. Du Bing Yan also started to worry about Li Yu Hu. Li Yu Hu found life in the Qi residence very boring and wanted to twirl a stick she saw, but Xiao Xi quickly stopped her. They couldn't let others realize that Li Yu Hu was impersonating Du Bing Yan. Little did they know that Qi Tian Lei noticed everything. Li Yu Hu also found the Qi residence strange from top to bottom. At that moment, Qi Tian Lei called Li Yu Hu over. Qi Tian Lei pretended to want to give Li Yu Hu's parents a gift, which frightened Li Yu Hu because she was the stand-in for Du Bing Yan. Then, Qi Tian Lei asked Li Yu Hu to write a letter herself, but Li Yu Hu naturally didn't know how to write. Xiao Xi wanted to remind Li Yu Hu, but she didn't listen. Qi Tian Lei became even more certain that something was wrong with Li Yu Hu's identity. He questioned Xiao Xi, and under pressure, Xiao Xi revealed the truth about the mix-up with the brides. Qi Tian Lei suddenly realized and didn't blame Xiao Xi. He also instructed her not to tell anyone about this.
It's much better than I imagined. After watching the first episode, I felt it was really good. In ancient times, women couldn't even decide their own fate, but luckily Li Yu Hu and Du Bing Yan both eventually found their true love. The portrayal is very authentic.
I watched the old version when I was a child, and I almost fell for those critiques from the bloggers. Today, I came here to judge for myself, and it's actually quite good, isn't it?
I heard it's a low-budget drama, so there's no need to compare it directly with the old version. The old version is undoubtedly better, but this new version is also very good.
I think it's pretty decent and enjoyable to watch while having a meal!
