Episode 6 recap: Li Yu Hu is adept at adapting to the situation on the spot during investigations.
Li Yu Hu was watering the flowers when Xiao Qiao approached. In fact, Xiao Qiao had received instructions from Ke Shi Zhao to gather more information about Li Yu Hu. Xiao Qiao deliberately asked about Li Yu Hu's activities in Yangzhou. Li Yu Hu mentioned her involvement in managing the family business, and Xiao Qiao promptly reported this to Ke Shi Zhao. Ke Shi Zhao instructed Xiao Qiao to inform Lao Tai Jun about the matter. Lao Tai Jun was delighted upon hearing the news and expressed her desire to invite both Qi Tian Lei and his wife.
Meanwhile, Qi Tian Lei was teaching Li Yu Hu to recite poems. After Li Yu Hu successfully recited one, Xiao Qiao appeared once again. Qi Tian Lei quickly put on a gentle and weak facade. Li Yu Hu and Qi Tian Lei went to meet Lao Tai Jun, who inquired if Li Yu Hu could handle accounting. Li Yu Hu was taken aback since she didn't know anything about it, so she improvised and made up answers. Lao Tai Jun also asked about the goods Li Yu Hu managed, and Li Yu Hu had no choice but to fabricate a response. Lao Tai Jun then requested Li Yu Hu to share her experiences with everyone the next day. Qi Tian Lei initially wanted to defend Li Yu Hu, but Lao Tai Jun insisted, so Qi Tian Lei reluctantly agreed.
Now Li Yu Hu found herself in a difficult situation due to her bragging. She wanted to escape back to Yangzhou, but Qi Tian Lei intentionally mentioned that leaving would mean admitting she wasn't Du Bing Yan. In order to help Li Yu Hu pass the upcoming test smoothly, Qi Tian Lei taught her the lyrics of Yangzhou's business songs that evening. Qi Tian Lei also had someone check if anyone was eavesdropping on the information. Afterwards, Qi Tian Lei began teaching Li Yu Hu some accounting skills and revealed the name of a business owned by the Qi family that was suffering losses. Qi Tian Lei assured Li Yu Hu that he would give her cues through his eyes and eyebrows, so she shouldn't worry.
The next day, Lao Tai Jun gathered all the employees of the business. Initially, Li Yu Hu was supposed to start reviewing the account books, but Ke Shi Zhao deliberately requested her to share her insights on conducting business. Fortunately, Li Yu Hu was prepared and didn't reveal any flaws, impressing everyone. Then it was time for Li Yu Hu to examine the account books. Thanks to Qi Tian Lei's training the previous day, she appeared serious and focused. After finishing, Li Yu Hu mentioned a problematic business, but she had forgotten its name and had to extract the information herself. She asked everyone to use the abacus, and as Li Yu Hu approached each person, Qi Tian Lei would shake his head if they were wrong and nod if they were right.
Using this method, Li Yu Hu finally identified the troublesome business. Lao Tai Jun and Ke Shi Zhao were astonished. Ke Shi Zhao wanted to test Li Yu Hu further, and Qi Tian Lei signaled Li Yu Hu to act disgusted. Li Yu Hu feigned disgust, and Lao Tai Jun immediately assumed she was pregnant, instructing her not to look at the account books and to rest instead. Lao Tai Jun also sent Xiao Qiao to check on Li Yu Hu. It was then that Li Yu Hu learned that only pregnant women experience such disgust. She felt a bit embarrassed and playfully teased Qi Tian Lei. Unbeknownst to them, Xiao Qiao witnessed the scene and quickly reported it to Ke Shi Zhao. When Ke Shi Zhao and Xiao Qiao arrived to investigate, Xiao Xi, who had seen everything beforehand, pretended to be fighting with Li Yu Hu before Ke Shi Zhao's arrival.
Back in her room, Li Yu Hu realized that Xiao Qiao and Ke Shi Zhao were deliberately targeting her. She was also curious about why Qi Tian Lei had been feigning illness. Qi Tian Lei explained that he initially wasn't pretending and that Lao Tai Jun had always favored him, but strange incidents had plagued the Qi family in recent years, forcing him to feign illness.
