Episode 7 recap: Du Bing Yan offered advice, and Yuan Bu Qu achieved a complete victory.
Qi Tian Lei spoke of how, over the years, his eldest and second brother had mysteriously passed away one after another. There were rumors circulating in the Qi family that the third son of the Qi family would not live past the age of twenty-five. Added to that, Qi Tian Lei himself had an illness. Feeling overwhelmed, he had dismissed all his loyal servants and planned to hang himself in the forest. However, he unexpectedly encountered his mentor, Liu Ruo Qian, who saved him.
Liu Ruo Qian also discovered some clues within the Qi family and advised Qi Tian Lei to bide his time, gather evidence, and then take action. Li Yu Hu suddenly realized the situation and Qi Tian Lei, who had expected Li Yu Hu to bring Du Bing Yan back, felt a bit disappointed. However, Li Yu Hu explained that Du Bing Yan didn't possess any martial arts skills and shouldn't be subjected to such hardships. Qi Tian Lei was relieved by her response. Qi Tian Lei asked Li Yu Hu to help him capture the wolves within the manor when the time came, and Li Yu Hu readily agreed.
Every day, Du Bing Yan's task was to prepare medicine for Yuan Bu Qu, whose injuries had not yet fully healed. Yuan Bu Qu, seeing Du Bing Yan disguised as a man, felt a strong sense of familiarity but Du Bing Yan, although having recognized Yuan Bu Qu, chose not to reveal her true identity. Du Bing Yan looked at the scars on Yuan Bu Qu's body and couldn't help but feel a pang of sympathy. After changing Yuan Bu Qu's medicine, she encouraged him to rest properly instead of lying in bed. Du Bing Yan noticed the messy room and offered to tidy it up.
Through Sha Ping Wei, Liu Ruo Qian learned that Yuan Bu Qu's first wife had died due to difficulties in childbirth, and the second wife had passed away during a military campaign. Seeing Du Bing Yan cleaning the room, Liu Ruo Qian realized that she was a woman and suddenly had a realization that she might be the wife who had been mistakenly married to Yuan Bu Qu.
Xiao Qiao brought the well-prepared medicine to Qi Tian Lei, hoping to witness him taking it, but Li Yu Hu chased her away. Qi Tian Lei tested the medicine on a white mouse, wanting to see if the outcome would be the same for him. At the same time, he wanted to confirm his speculation.
Liu Ruo Qian called Du Bing Yan over and personally checked her pulse, confirming his suspicions. He then prescribed medicine for her. When Du Bing Yan returned home and opened the prescription, she discovered that Liu Ruo Qian already knew her true identity and even expressed his intention to offer her assistance in the future. Du Bing Yan didn't hide anything from Liu Ruo Qian and quickly informed him that Yuan Bu Qu was about to embark on another military campaign. However, Sha Ping Wei revealed that the enemy was already approaching. Despite his injuries, Yuan Bu Qu prepared to face the enemy once again. From the city tower, Du Bing Yan spotted the enemy's cavalry preparing to attack the city gate and came up with a clever plan. When everyone was still worried about how to respond to the enemy, Du Bing Yan suggested a strategy. Anticipating that the enemy's food supplies would be scarce, she suggested scattering black beans on the ground. The hungry horses, having endured prolonged hunger, would be uncontrollable and scattered, thus achieving their desired outcome. At first, Sha Ping Wei opposed the idea, but Yuan Bu Qu found it feasible. In this battle, Yuan Bu Qu emerged victorious.
Du Bing Yan was curious as to how Liu Ruo Qian knew her and Li Yu Hu's names, as well as the fact that they had been mistakenly married. She expressed her desire to learn from Liu Ruo Qian and directly called him her godfather. Liu Ruo Qian also informed her about Qi Tian Lei and Li Yu Hu's situation, stating that it would be a good thing if they ended up marrying the right partners, even if they had taken the wrong bridal carriage.
That evening, Du Bing Yan informed Liu Ruo Qian that their medicine supplies were running low. She also discovered a half-piece of golden lotus in the medicine box, which Liu Ruo Qian treasured greatly, as it was a memento left behind by a pair of star-crossed lovers.
In ancient times, the way a woman walked was a measure of her behavior. Whether walking or sitting, it had to be proper and disciplined. Even in martial arts, there were rules to follow.
No one would walk with swaying steps and wobbles along the way. Even if pregnant and experiencing morning sickness, one would cover their mouth instead of directly vomiting.
Moreover, women in ancient times had low status, and they were expected to adhere to rules and etiquette in their movements and posture. Even if they were greatly loved, they still needed to be taught and guided.
Learning basic manners was essential, or else they would have difficulty finding a suitable marriage partner.
