Episode 13 recap: Yun Wei Shan successfully leaked the information.
Gong Zi Shang exerted all his strength to push away a cart of lanterns in order to test his fate with Jin Fan. Startled, Jin Fan dropped her sword to the ground and called out his name. Gong Zi Yu and Yun Wei Shan were enjoying the lantern festival together on the street when suddenly Yun Wei Shan was bumped into by someone. She immediately noticed that the necklace around her neck was missing, which was her sister's ring. Gong Zi Yu instructed her to wait there while he personally went after the thief.
Gong Zi Yu broke the palace rules and brought Yun Wei Shan outside the palace to admire the lanterns, wanting to have some alone time with her. He managed to separate Jin Fan from Yun Wei Shan so that they could enjoy the lantern festival together. Shang Guan Qian, feeling the heat and humidity in the past few days, specially prepared medicinal congee for Gong Shang Jue. However, Gong Yuan Zheng analyzed the herbs grabbed by Shang Guan Qian and Yun Wei Shan and discovered that they were highly toxic. He hurriedly arrived and used hidden weapons to stop Gong Shang Jue from drinking the congee. However, Gong Shang Jue mistakenly thought he was being attacked and threw the bowl, accidentally injuring Gong Yuan Zheng with the shattered fragments. Gong Yuan Zheng's life hung in the balance. The doctor removed the fragments but revealed that it had hit his heart. In his final moments of consciousness, Gong Yuan Zheng managed to say that the congee was poisoned before losing consciousness. Gong Shang Jue looked at the dragon lantern on the ground and remembered how Gong Yuan Zheng used to stick to him when they were young, taking on the role of an older brother since they had no parents. They had relied on each other ever since. Gong Yuan Zheng secretly repaired the dragon lantern, but Gong Shang Jue scolded him because it belonged to their late younger brother, Lang. Heartbroken, Gong Yuan Zheng sat outside overnight. Later, he made a new lantern for Gong Shang Jue. Gong Shang Jue regretted scolding his younger brother and silently held his hand.
After receiving a lot of internal energy from Gong Shang Jue, Gong Yuan Zheng woke up. He entrusted Gong Shang Jue with the task of dealing with Gong Zi Yu's unauthorized outing. However, Gong Shang Jue couldn't rest assured and ordered someone to closely watch Yun Wei Shan. He also confirmed that the congee did indeed contain poison. To give Yun Wei Shan a lantern as a gift, Gong Zi Yu played a folk game of guessing riddles. Gong Zi Yu unintentionally discovered that Yun Wei Shan was very intelligent as she guessed all the riddles correctly. She mentioned that she used to play this game with her younger sister. Gong Zi Shang held a lantern and suddenly it went out, feeling it was a bad omen. He then bought the biggest and brightest lantern he could find, but still felt it wasn't eye-catching enough. As a result, he bought a whole cart of lanterns to attract Jin Fan, and his forceful push of the lantern cart startled her.
Gong Zi Yu carried the lantern given to Yun Wei Shan while being mocked by other women, as it was considered unconventional for a man to carry a lantern. He dismissed those details and even made two identical strings to wear on his hand, mustering the courage to hold her hand and stroll through the lantern festival. Gong Zi Shang had been dancing in the street, eagerly awaiting Jin Fan's arrival, but she had been observing him from the shadows the whole time. Two troublemakers began teasing Gong Zi Shang, and Jin Fan intervened to help him. She presented him with a small lantern as a gift. Gong Zi Shang named the lantern "Xiao Jin Shang" (Little Jin Shang) in her honor.
Gong Zi Yu knew that Gong Zi Shang deliberately delayed Jin Fan's arrival to have some private time with her. Yun Wei Shan's necklace was stolen by a thief, and Gong Zi Yu went alone to retrieve it, realizing that the thief was actually associated with Han Ya Si. Jin Fan and Gong Zi Shang arrived at a courtyard and were startled by an elderly woman from behind. She informed them that Old Jia had been visited by people inquiring about Jin Fan. Yun Wei Shan noticed Han Ya Si in the distance and went after her, while Gong Zi Yu noticed Yun Wei Shan about to pursue and discovered palace personnel tracking him. He ordered them to reveal themselves and not leave the place.
Gong Zi Yu entered an area filled with fireworks, and Yun Wei Shan entered a room where she recognized Zi Yi but questioned her true identity. Yun Wei Shan had left the palace to obtain an antidote, and she offered information in exchange for it. Gong Zi Yu specifically came to find Zi Yi, and a servant used a bell to timely notify Yun Wei Shan and Han Ya Si to leave. Han Ya Si jumped out of a window but found someone below, while Yun Wei Shan was trapped in the room and made eye contact with Gong Zi Yu. Han Ya Si aimed an arrow at Gong Zi Yu from a corner, but Yun Wei Shan purposely stood in front of him, claiming that Gong Zi Yu used to frequently visit Zi Yi before their marriage, seeking advice on how to please him. Gong Zi Yu misunderstood and thought Yun Wei Shan was jealous, explaining that he had done nothing with Zi Yi. After Yun Wei Shan saw Zi Yi pouring out the tea as a signal to retreat, she left with Gong Zi Yu.
Gong Shang Jue entered Lady Wujin's room and found her lying on the ground. Palace guards discovered a masked figure in black clothing, Shang Guan Qian, who had been injured and fainted in her own room. An emergency signal was quickly sent throughout the palace, and Gong Zi Yu hurried back to the palace and went to the medical clinic. The guards searched each injured woman, and Shang Guan Qian woke up and quickly poured out the blood basin, lying that she drank a calming herbal soup due to feeling unwell. Gong Shang Jue meticulously searched her room and discovered strong spices. He praised Shang Guan Qian's cleverness, realizing that she intentionally used such strong incense to mask the scent of blood but overlooked the bloodstains on the case.
