Episode 4 recap: Yun Wei Shan and Shang Guan Qian were both chosen as new brides at the same time.

Yun Wei Shan cried and said that she missed her father so much that she released a river lantern. Her father went out to sea when she was young and never returned since then. Gong Zi Yu misunderstood her earlier and accidentally injured her arm, so he apologized and specially gave her a handkerchief. It was getting late, and he offered to accompany Yun Wei Shan back home. However, he is now the blade handler, and it might not be appropriate for them to go together to avoid suspicion. Gong Zi Yu asked her sorrowfully if she didn't want to be with him. He looked at her face with confusion, wondering why she was completely recovered today after being poisoned last night. Yun Wei Shan explained that she wasn't poisoned at all. She only had a rash, and she obtained ointment from Shang Guan and slept overnight, which made her feel better. Before the rash appeared, she just drank tea with Jiang Li Li in her room. This tea was from Shang Guan's hometown.

Gong Zi Yu came to the backyard and received complaints from the nanny for not following the rules, but seeing that he had no other choice. Yun Wei Shan and Gong Zi Yu arrived together and were questioned by Miss Song. Gong Zi Yu explained that he had a secret mission to entrust to Yun Wei Shan. In Miss Song's room, they found a red powder, which Miss Song explained was her medicine for asthma. In reality, it was mixed with poison from Yun Wei Shan's nails. Shang Guan Qian wanted to end this matter and took responsibility for the poison. Yun Wei Shan accidentally discovered that Miss Song had been hiding an illness, so she deliberately mixed the poison in her medication. Miss Song said that she carried it with her and sneaked it into the palace, intending to take it in front of them, but she noticed that the color was off. Without hesitation, she drank it and immediately developed a rash on her face. She was sent out of the valley and back to the Song family.

Gong Zi Yu suspected Shang Guan Qian, and Yun Wei Shan was willing to drink tea to verify. Gong Zi Yu thought that since Yun Wei Shan was open and honest, there was no need to test her further. Although they didn't need to drink tea, they needed to interrogate Shang Guan Qian about how she brought in the ointment. It was getting late, and if they didn't return before it got dark, they might never come back.

Shang Guan Qian went to the medical clinic to find a doctor and encountered Gong Yuan Zheng, who pointed his sword at her. Initially, she wanted the doctor to help with her physical coldness, but now she felt it was unnecessary because she didn't want the gold medal anymore. Gong Zi Yu was unworthy of being the blade handler, and Gong Shang Jue was the only suitable candidate in her heart. All of this was calculated by Shang Guan. She discovered that Gong Shang Jue was following her, so she deliberately said those words and brought a jade pendant that would pique Gong Shang Jue's interest, using it to get close to him.

Shang Guan returned to her room and found Gong Zi Yu and others waiting for her. She explained that she mixed the ointment by hiding it in her personal belongings, and she brought the tea leaves as part of her dowry. Gong Zi Yu ordered someone to test the ointment. Shang Guan Qian praised Yun Wei Shan's clever plan, as she used the ointment to frame her. Yun Wei Shan asked whether it would be better for the world to know they were archenemies or close sisters, as it would make their mission difficult to execute. Shang Guan Qian guessed Yun Wei Shan's plan and suggested that she go easy on her subordinates, so they would appear as enemies on the surface.

The three elders decided that since the previous blade handler had just passed away within three years, it was not appropriate for him to marry someone from outside the valley. They proposed that Gong Zi Yu and Gong Shang Jue choose among the new brides. Gong Shang Jue had been reluctant to marry before, but now he agreed due to the busy affairs in the valley. He specifically named Shang Guan Qian.

Shang Guan Qian and Yun Wei Shan were called to the blade handler's hall, each holding a jade pendant, and taken to the palace garden. Gong Shang Jue told them not to rush into attending to him, as he suspected that others might have infiltrated the valley. He would arrange for people to verify their true identities in their hometowns. Yun Wei Shan and Shang Guan Qian had their portraits drawn, and Yun Wei Shan worried that their identities would be exposed. Gong Shang Jue told the three elders that he didn't accept Gong Zi Yu as the blade handler and strongly opposed it. Gong Zi Shang, considering the palace rules, stated that Gong Zi Yu was the only suitable candidate, but Gong Shang Jue argued that he was not a descendant of the palace. Gong Yuan Zheng and Gong Zi Yu argued, and Gong Shang Jue slapped his brother's face but accidentally hit the current blade handler, Gong Zi Yu, as well. Gong Zi Yu suspected Gong Shang Jue as the culprit who killed their father.

Jin Fan brought Yue Gong Zi, whose appearance captivated Gong Zi Shang's attention. He saw the flower given by Gong Zi Yu and said it was Bai Cao Hui. Although it resembled the Divine Feather Flower, its medicinal properties were different. Before leaving, Yue Gong Zi said that when they meet again as the blade handler, they will know who he is. Gong Zi Yu found Jia Steward, who confessed that he was forced to switch the flowers to save his life, and the one who gave the order was Gong Yuan Zheng.
