Episode 1 recap: Chen Mi Ren and Zhong Wei reunite.
Chen Mi Ren was sleeping in the classroom while the teacher was teaching advanced mathematics. The teacher asked the class what advanced mathematics was and requested someone to answer the question. Chen Mi Ren had a dream where she became a chief designer and was receiving an award on stage. Chen Mi Ren woke up with a smile, only to realize that the teacher was asking her to answer the question. Chen Mi Ren was completely bewildered and had no idea what the question was. A classmate next to her reminded Chen Mi Ren, who then expressed that advanced mathematics was a very difficult subject, causing everyone to burst into laughter.
Zhong Wei arrived late and entered through the back door, but the teacher didn't make a big deal out of it and allowed him to sit down. The teacher mentioned that although advanced mathematics was challenging, everyone needed to study hard, and being late or failing the class was not acceptable. Chen Mi Ren noticed Zhong Wei and was surprised to see him there. As soon as the class ended, she hurriedly left.
Zhong Wei intercepted Chen Mi Ren and asked why she ran away and why she left without saying anything in the first place. Zhong Wei asked his father for money, and they negotiated the amount. Zhong Wei spotted Chen Mi Ren and went to her first, leaving his father clueless about why he wanted the money and who he learned it from.
Chen Mi Ren shared information about the figurines with the people around her and admired their beauty. Zhong Wei secretly took a picture of Chen Mi Ren in that moment. Chen Mi Ren had a dinner gathering with her dormmates, and they talked about their dreams. Chen Mi Ren originally wanted to study character design for animation, but because the major couldn't recruit enough students, she was transferred to her current major. Chen Mi Ren expressed that her dream was to enter Hengsiyuan.
Class monitor Bao Jia Guo approached Xu Miao Miao, asking her to participate in the campus ambassador program to bring glory to their class. Xu Miao Miao became angry when Bao Jia Guo mentioned that she relied solely on her looks. Bao Jia Guo then approached Zhong Wei, who also refused to participate.
The drama contains a significant amount of female rivalry plotlines, and there are also numerous uncomfortable details. For instance, the second male lead asks the second female lead to help bring sanitary pads to the female lead, but he is criticized and labeled as a pervert.
The second male lead assists a random female character with her luggage, only to be inexplicably dragged into a play between a couple, and the second female lead sneers at him. Additionally, at the beginning, the male lead resorts to teasing the female lead to capture her attention, and there is a supporting female character with an overly romanticized mindset.
Both the main couple and the supporting couple have storylines where a malicious female character tries to steal the male lead, pushing the development of their relationships. It seems like the drama might be an adaptation of a novel, and I initially thought the original work was from ten years ago, but it turns out it was published just this year.
I'm not sure if the novel is the same, so proceed with caution when watching it.
