Episode 11 recap: Haunted Liu Family Bathhouse
Ye Wu Zhi always felt that there were ghosts in the Liu Family Bathhouse. So she hid in bed, unable to sleep and too afraid to get up. This stemmed from her encounter with a ghost wearing a red dress during her time in the Qingjing Sect. At that time, she didn't believe in ghosts and even mentioned it to Liu Yun Xiao, who also believed that there were no ghosts in the world. So they decided to catch the ghost together, but they found that the ghost had no feet and was constantly floating in the air. Both of them were terrified and quickly turned back to their rooms. That night, if it weren't for Liu Yun Xiao accompanying her, Ye Wu Zhi couldn't imagine how embarrassed she would have been.
Now, the Liu Family Bathhouse was haunted again. Ye Wu Zhi heard knocking on the door, followed by the voices of Ji Ming Zhao, Meng San Xi, and Yan Si Fang outside. But Ye Wu Zhi didn't believe it was them; instead, she thought it was the ghost coming for her. She was too scared to open the door, so Meng San Xi, Ji Ming Zhao, and Yan Si Fang had to climb in through the window. Ji Ming Zhao didn't believe in ghosts, and Meng San Xi and Yan Si Fang shared the same belief. However, the ghost was indeed disturbing the workers' rest. Ji Ming Zhao had promised to deliver the project to the Liu Family in 87 days, so she decided to form a ghost-catching team. Meng San Xi, Ye Wu Zhi, and Yan Si Fang were the core members of the team.
Wei Dong Yang took the opportunity at night to write a letter to San Qi Dao. Although he had strong martial arts skills, he held a deep reverence for supernatural matters. Therefore, his handwriting appeared somewhat messy in the letter due to his fearful state of mind. Wei Dong Yang initially planned to set fire to several main buildings of the Liu Family Bathhouse to create conflict between Ji Ming Zhao and the Liu Family. However, with the sudden appearance of the female ghost, he lost the courage to carry out his plan. In the letter, he earnestly pleaded for Ou Yang Zhang Lao's forgiveness for being unable to protect his illegitimate son, Meng San Xi, any longer. Ou Yang Zhang Lao finally understood why Wei Dong Yang always mentioned him specifically in his letters and silently cursed the person who referred to Meng San Xi as his illegitimate child.
Ji Ming Zhao carried the terrified Ye Wu Zhi on his back, while Meng San Xi led the way with a lantern, and Yan Si Fang followed behind them. The four of them looked so eerie that it seemed like they were ghosts themselves. Although Ye Wu Zhi had high combat abilities, she was currently afraid of female ghosts and didn't dare to walk on her own. Yan Si Fang had fallen to the point of pulling a cart, and he spent the night pulling Meng San Xi, Ye Wu Zhi, and Ji Ming Zhao in search of the female ghost. However, the ghost always seemed to keep a distance from them, and they couldn't catch up. Eventually, they became too exhausted and fell asleep. When they woke up at dawn, the female ghost and the singing had disappeared.
When Liu Yun Zong heard about the ghostly incidents at the Liu Family Bathhouse, he was worried that it would affect the opening in ten days. He asked Ji Ming Zhao to help convince the workers that the bathhouse wasn't haunted, promising to reward her generously. Ji Ming Zhao explained that the bathhouse was indeed haunted, with the female ghost singing at midnight and strange bloodstains appearing in the workers' residential area. Upon hearing this, Liu Yun Zong was scared and quickly found an excuse to leave. Meng San Xi, Yan Si Fang, Ji Ming Zhao, and Ye Wu Zhi discussed how to catch the ghost. They were concerned that if the rumors of haunting were confirmed, it would harm the reputation of the Liu Family. Following Yan Si Fang's analysis, they decided to stake out the kitchen, where the poultry was slaughtered, to find out who was using blood to create supernatural occurrences.
Yan Si Fang couldn't help but feel frustrated at their plan to simply stake out the area. He called them fools, which caused Meng San Xi to demand an explanation of who the real fool was. Seeing the situation, Yan Si Fang claimed that he could detoxify Meng San Xi, which caught Meng San Xi's attention. Yan Si Fang then acted arrogantly, and Meng San Xi immediately showed him special attention. Qiu Yue Bai began selling "xionghuang" wine, claiming that it could break the spell. The workers lined up to buy it, and Ye Wu Zhi also bought a pot with three taels of silver. Qiu Yue Bai promised to deliver the "xionghuang" suit in two days and give Ye Wu Zhi a set. Ye Wu Zhi was deeply moved, but Yan Si Fang thought she was a big fool and jokingly suggested that Qiu Yue Bai should kill her. Qiu Yue Bai, remembering the chicken that was inexplicably killed yesterday, felt a pang of pain and made a pact with Yan Si Fang. He advised her not to use garlic in the kitchen today and to smear garlic juice on the knife handle at night, so they would know who had touched the knife the next day.
That night, Ye Wu Zhi and Meng San Xi took turns keeping watch. Ye Wu Zhi was so close to Meng San Xi that it made him wonder about her intentions. However, before he could ask her, the ghost's singing began, and Ye Wu Zhi was immediately frightened into silence. Yan Si Fang saw the ghost appear and pretended not to see it, loudly claiming that he hadn't seen anything. But when he raised his head, he realized that the ghost was right beside him.
