Episode 12 recap: Ye Wu Zhi Overcoming Fear
Yan Si Fang determined the position of the ghost and forced himself not to look up. He closed his eyes and reminded Ji Ming Zhao and Qiu Yue Bai not to look up either. They immediately realized that Yan Si Fang had seen the ghost, so they dared not open their eyes, feeling safe because they didn't see it. The ghost, finding it uninteresting, drifted forward. Unfortunately, Yan Si Fang, in a moment of carelessness, opened his eyes and was scared unconscious. Ji Ming Zhao and Qiu Yue Bai sensed Yan Si Fang falling to the ground and became even more afraid to open their eyes. The ghost, annoyed by their behavior, was drawn away by the two of them and turned to scare the workers, coincidentally being seen by Meng San Xi.
Meng San Xi, a staunch believer in the absence of ghosts, was infuriated by the ghost's presence. He approached Meng San Xi, intending to kill him. At a critical moment, Meng San Xi subtly hinted to the ghost that if it wanted to confirm its ghostly identity, it couldn't harm him. After all, he was a person protected by immortals. The ghost actually stopped, and Meng San Xi pointed a finger at it, poking it away. Feeling the warmth from the ghost, he confirmed that it was a person in disguise.
Last night, several chickens were killed in the kitchen again, but there was no occurrence of the supernatural blood-splattering event. Yan Si Fang, Meng San Xi, Ji Ming Zhao, and Qiu Yue Bai gathered together to reason and ultimately concluded that there was a time difference in the information between the big ghost and the inside traitor. The big ghost had already successfully disguised himself, but the small ghost was unaware and had not received instructions, which was why there was no blood-splattering. This indicated that there was a secret signal between them, and that signal was likely a song. The big ghost believed that he had successfully disguised himself and would not come tonight. Meng San Xi decided to impersonate the big ghost, send a secret signal to the small ghost, and then capture him in one fell swoop, putting an end to the rumors of the haunted Liu Family Bathhouse.
The news of Meng San Xi's ability to ward off ghosts spread throughout the entire Liu Family Bathhouse, and everyone was lining up to ask Meng San Xi to draw talismans for protection. Meng San Xi drew one after another and instructed them to stay in bed and pretend to sleep if they heard ghostly cries that night. With the reassurance of the talismans, everyone followed Meng San Xi's instructions. Ji Ming Zhao initially wanted to scare people by pretending to be a ghost, but her cries sounded more like a wolf's howl than a ghost's cry, so she had to give up the opportunity to frighten people and let Qiu Yue Bai take over. Qiu Yue Bai's ghostly cries, sounding like a plea, successfully scared those who were clueless. Meanwhile, the little ghost hidden among the workers, upon hearing the ghostly cries, quietly got up and went to the kitchen. After killing a hen and collecting its blood, the ghost returned to the workers' shed. Just as the ghost was pouring the blood on the ground, the lights in the room turned on. Meng San Xi, Yan Si Fang, Ji Ming Zhao, and the workers caught Wang Zheng in the act.
The next day, Meng San Xi wanted to provoke the master-level expert who pretended to be a ghost. He deliberately made bold statements on the open ground to provoke the expert. Yan Si Fang, Ji Ming Zhao, and Ye Wu Zhi also made similar bold statements to support Meng San Xi's actions. That night, the master of the ghostly disguise indeed arrived. Meng San Xi instructed everyone to hide inside the room while he locked the master outside and released smoke, hoping to confuse the master. However, the master broke free from the chains and knocked on the door. Meng San Xi quickly flattered the master, hoping to avoid any conflict, but the workers, hearing that the master was trying to break in, pushed Yan Si Fang, Ji Ming Zhao, Ye Wu Zhi, and Meng San Xi outside to calm the master's anger.
The master remembered that Meng San Xi had claimed to be able to evade five moves, while Ye Wu Zhi could withstand ten moves. The master attacked without hesitation, but Ye Wu Zhi surprised everyone by countering eight moves in a row. The master became serious upon seeing this and Meng San Xi feared for Ye Wu Zhi's safety. He quickly joined the fight to help defend against the master, and the two of them were sent flying, coughing up blood. The master admitted that if Meng San Xi had only evaded, the master wouldn't have been able to land a single blow even after fifty moves. But now, the victory was his. He defeated Ye Wu Zhi within ten moves and struck Meng San Xi with a single move. In retaliation for Meng San Xi's intention to draw a talisman on his forehead, the master used the arrow that struck him as a pen and drew a spell on Meng San Xi's forehead, demanding that Meng San Xi not erase it until the construction was complete.
Seeing Ye Wu Zhi and Meng San Xi lying on the ground, Ji Ming Zhao, in her capacity as the shopkeeper, challenged the master. She proposed a wager, stating that if she won, the master couldn't pursue the matter further. The master agreed, but he didn't anticipate that Ji Ming Zhao would take out a dagger and propose a bet: if she could plunge the dagger six inches into the master's heart, he would die. Bound by Ji Ming Zhao's unexpected challenge, the master couldn't possibly harm himself, so he reluctantly released everyone as agreed.
After this incident, Ye Wu Zhi overcame her inner fear, though she still believed in the existence of ghosts. However, she had found her own talismans to overcome fear, which were Meng San Xi and Realgar Wine.
