Episode 16 recap: Ji Ming Zhao Bears Humiliation and Heavy Burdens for Making Money
Ying Bai Chi and Yan Si Fang are members of the same music band, but Yan Si Fang can only sit in the courtyard while Ying Bai Chi gets to sit at the main table. Ji Ming Zhao tells Yan Si Fang that Ying Bai Chi is an aloof figure because he doesn't get involved in the conflicts of the four major families and provides goods for everyone, so no one would dare to offend him. At this moment, Miss Liang from the Liang family catches Yan Si Fang's attention. Ji Ming Zhao asks Yan Si Fang to take a closer look and they witness Miss Liang initiating a conversation with Ying Bai Chi.
Miss Liang uses the excuse that Ying Bai Chi didn't invite her to join the music band to bargain for a discount on a batch of goods. Yan Si Fang feels that he is also an aloof figure, so he goes to the Liang family's main table and secretly tells the young master that he is Tuoba Linghu, offering to make divine weapons for him but requiring the young master to provide the materials. The young master of the Liang family naturally doesn't believe him and suddenly publicly reveals Yan Si Fang's identity, mocking him for speaking nonsense and demanding an apology from him.
Seeing that the situation is not favorable, Ji Ming Zhao quickly steps in to rescue them. However, given her status, the Liang family members completely disregard her and instead suggest that Yan Si Fang should kowtow to them to resolve the situation. Ji Ming Zhao naturally disagrees and after the young master of the Liang family slaps Yan Si Fang, she also slaps the young master. Witnessing this, the young master of the Liang family gives Yan Si Fang another slap and also hits Ji Ming Zhao's face with chopsticks. The situation immediately becomes tense. Ying Bai Chi urges everyone to stop the fight and, out of respect for him, the Liang family members agree to let the matter pass. It is well-known that Ying Bai Chi enjoys watching a spectacle, so the Liang family members offer a reward of one hundred taels of silver as a target shooting prize. Both Ji Ming Zhao, who needs money, and Ying Bai Chi, who doesn't, actively participate. To increase the difficulty, they require taking a shot after drinking a bowl of wine. In the end, Ying Bai Chi loses first, and Ji Ming Zhao performs for a long time before winning the one hundred taels.
After winning the money, Ji Ming Zhao wants to leave, but Miss Liang from the Liang family, confident in her wealth, offers two hundred taels as a bonus. Ji Ming Zhao decides to play with them a little longer. Yan Si Fang, on the other hand, feels that the one hundred taels he just won is burning in his hands.
Ye Wu Zhi took the opportunity of entering the mansion to find Qi Yifan and forcefully interrogate him about his involvement with Liu Yun Xiao. Before Qi Yifan could react, Ye Wu Zhi pressed him to the ground and didn't give him a chance to speak. After some effort, Qi Yifan finally found an opportunity to mention that there was an old man in the mansion who knew about Liu Yun Xiao. Ye Wu Zhi, feeling apologetic, wanted to give him money, but Qi Yifan, fearing further harm, pretended not to recognize Ye Wu Zhi and tried to leave. However, Ye Wu Zhi insisted on accompanying Qi Yifan to the clinic, which frightened Qi Yifan and made him run away.
Meng San Xi approached a servant in the mansion to inquire about supernatural events, but the servant instead shared many scandalous stories, which annoyed Meng San Xi. Finally, Meng San Xi learned that there was a corner in the mansion where ghostly sounds were often heard. Immediately, Meng San Xi took Wei Dong Yang to investigate and discovered that the person pretending to be a ghost was the master who had been haunting the Liu family's bathhouse. Meng San Xi asked Wei Dong Yang to leave and stayed behind to negotiate with the master. Both of them were searching for "断掌" (Duǎn Zhǎng,It means broken palm), and in this place, there was another master who was evenly matched with the ghost master. Meng San Xi convinced the ghost master to stall the other master while he went to search for "断掌."
"断掌" initially thought that Meng San Xi had come to kill him, but Meng San Xi actually wanted him to reveal the truth. "断掌" hadn't seen his wife and daughter for five years, and he agreed to tell Meng San Xi the information as long as he could see them. Meng San Xi and "断掌" made a plan to meet later, and then Meng San Xi left. This made the ghost master realize that he had been tricked and wanted to kill Meng San Xi, but he couldn't find a better ally, so he had to restrain himself.
Ji Ming Zhao was trying to earn the next five hundred taels and was reluctantly drinking and playing the pot-throwing game, but he was completely off target. Seeing Ji Ming Zhao in this state, Meng San Xi provoked the Liang family and asked them to replace Ji Ming Zhao in the game. Liang Si saw that Ye Wu Zhi was willing to drink three bowls for one arrow, and Yan Si Fang promised to shoot ten arrows in a row, otherwise Meng San Xi would have to kowtow all night. Liang Si immediately agreed, thinking that he would witness the embarrassment of the three comrades. Unexpectedly, the five thousand taels of silver tickets in his arms were won by others. Seeing this, Liang Er wanted to turn the tables and scattered a stack of silver tickets for Meng San Xi to catch. As long as one fell to the ground, Yan Si Fang would have to kowtow ten times. Although Meng San Xi didn't have internal strength, his agility and knowledge as a top expert were still intact. He flawlessly caught all the silver tickets. Yan Si Fang then added something to Liang Si's drink, causing him to involuntarily kneel and kowtow in pain as if he were apologizing.
