Episode 20 recap: Ye Liu Xi and the others meet Zhao Guan Shou.
Ding Liu thinks Ye Liu Xi looks particularly handsome when he gets angry. Fei Tang says that every time they encounter a problem, as long as Ye Liu Xi gets angry, things get resolved. He suggests that Ye Liu Xi should get angry more often so they can be invincible. Fei Tang feeds fruits to the twins, hoping to raise them quickly. Ye Liu Xi thinks it would be good to keep the twins and have them transform into Chang Dong to perform for them.
Chang Dong and the others are not in a hurry to go to Blackstone City. Instead, they wait for Lao Li here because they feel that they have many questions to ask him. Lao Li sees the sign hanging outside that Ye Liu Xi and the others put up and comes in to find them. Lao Li explains that the person they encountered is called Shui Yan, a water-formed creature. The things the female Shui Yan sees can also be seen by the male Shui Yan, and vice versa. So, the one who questioned them at that time was not Shui Yan but the person behind the scenes.
Lao Li also intends to enter Blackstone City, so he accompanies Ye Liu Xi and the others. Chang Dong and the others drive to Blackstone City, and there are several cars waiting outside for them. Lao Li explains that entering Blackstone City is a very serious matter, and they will have to undergo strict scrutiny. Zhao Guan Shou approaches them, and Ye Liu Xi comes down to inspect. Zhao Guan Shou introduces himself as the leader of the Yu Lin Wei in Blackstone City and calls out Ye Liu Xi's name, saying that she has returned.
Ye Liu Xi realizes that Zhao Guan Shou knows her. Zhao Guan Shou asks Ye Liu Xi and the others to follow him, promising to answer all of Ye Liu Xi's questions. Zhao Guan Shou takes them to the Blackstone City Museum, but Lao Li is stopped and not allowed to enter. Inside, they see a map. Zhao Guan Shou explains the different cities on the map. As they continue further, they encounter shadow puppets. Zhao Guan Shou explains that these shadow puppets can transport goods within the city, but they also get damaged. As a token of gratitude for their service, after the shadow puppets are damaged, they are placed in coffins, and a giant eye guards their graves.
On the other side of the stone wall, there were a few characters that read "Flowing West Bones, Gazing East Souls." Zhao Guan Shou explained that when the Nandou Constellation stops moving in the sky, a great disaster will occur within the Guannei region. The shadow puppets will be unable to stand up, and the next person born at sunrise with the Nandou birthmark will appear alongside the beast-headed yellow goat. This person will have the ability to enter and leave Yumen Pass.
A thousand years ago, there was a man named Li Wangdong who established the Beast Head organization. He wanted to overthrow the rule of Blackstone City and sought power from outside the pass, providing gold to a feudal lord named Li to borrow his troops. However, Li Wangdong was betrayed by the feudal lords and was killed outside the pass. After his death, the shadow puppets were able to stand up again and continue transporting goods into the pass, stabilizing the order within Guannei.
Later, members of the Qian family used a silver snake to divine a prophecy. It foretold the birth of a baby girl in a village north of the Shaya Dunes, also a person born at sunrise with the Nandou birthmark. The boy would be named Wangdong, and the girl would be named Liuxi. Since the birth of Ye Liu Xi, no shadow puppet has stood up within the pass.
Ye Liu Xi found it strange and asked why they didn't kill her. Zhao Guan Shou explained that they had considered it, but the people within the pass couldn't kill them; only those from outside the pass could. Later, Zhao Guan Shou found Ye Liu Xi, fortunately, she hadn't gained much power at that time. Zhao Guan Shou brought Ye Liu Xi back to Blackstone City and assigned her to the Rainforest Guard to help bring goods from outside the pass. The Scorpion Eye uprising happened afterward, and Zhao Guan Shou believed that Scorpion Eye would be the next Beast Head. The prophecies indicated that the bell can only be unraveled by the one who tied it, so Zhao Guan Shou sent Ye Liu Xi to infiltrate the Scorpion Eye organization. However, her undercover identity was discovered, and that's why she was suspended outside the Poplar Forest.
