Episode 1 recap: Fu Yun Shen and Zhu Jiu had a misunderstanding at the airport.
In Heidelberg, Germany, Zhu Jiu (played by Zhang Yu Xi) arrives as a family doctor at a grand palace-like residence. The butler takes her on a tour. Zhu Jiu is curious why the rooms have the curtains closed and only the lights on. The butler explains that it is the master's preference, and she must not disturb him. He also advises Zhu Jiu to speak softly in the house. The butler takes the opportunity to ask if she is afraid of dogs, especially a peculiar one. Zhu Jiu assures him that she is not afraid. The butler then leads her upstairs.
Upon reaching the top, Zhu Jiu is surprised to find Fu Yun Shen (played by Chen Yi) sitting pale-faced in a wheelchair. Fu Yun Shen immediately recognizes Zhu Jiu but coldly tells her to leave. Zhu Jiu crouches in front of Fu Yun Shen, asking him what happened and why he is in a wheelchair. Fu Yun Shen doesn't respond and instead frantically urges Zhu Jiu to leave. Zhu Jiu, frightened by Fu Yun Shen's demeanor, reluctantly exits the room, while the butler witnesses the encounter. Without saying a word, Zhu Jiu leaves.
After Zhu Jiu departs, Fu Yun Shen finally lets out a sigh of relief and tears uncontrollably flow down his face. The story then rewinds to two years ago in Shanghai, China. Fu Yun Shen was still a wealthy young man, although he rode a bicycle to work every day. The shareholders' meeting of Lingtian Pharmaceuticals is about to begin, but Fu Yun Shen is yet to arrive. Everyone waits for him to start the meeting. When Fu Yun Shen finally arrives, he introduces the project plan to everyone, which receives positive feedback. He is soon about to go on a business trip.
Meanwhile, in the German city of Sankt Deburg, Zhu Jiu abruptly wakes up from a nightmare. She has unpleasant childhood memories. While at work, she receives a phone call from her uncle, who asks for her assistance in providing medical treatment. Zhu Jiu hesitates but finds it difficult to refuse. She has psychological scars from her past, so she tells her uncle that she needs to consider it. Fu Yun Shen has an older brother named Fu Xizhou, to whom he reveals his plan to visit Country M. However, Fu Xizhou is deeply concerned about his younger brother's safety, as the country poses potential risks. Despite his worries, Fu Xizhou ultimately cannot resist his brother's determination but ensures that local people will be there to receive him. Fu Yun Shen has already convinced their mother, and now he needs to convince their grandfather.
However, Fu Yun Shen's mother was still very worried about him. After all, he was far away from home and couldn't rely on anyone. Fu Xizhou and Fu Yun Shen were actually only half-siblings, not legitimate sons of the Fu family. So Fu Yun Shen's mother still had some reservations and grievances towards him. Fu Yun Shen tried to comfort his mother at the time.
Zhu Jiu was still hesitant about whether to go to Country M to help his uncle. In the end, he decided to go. However, during the transfer, he had to pay a significant amount of money due to overweight luggage. Just then, he noticed a Chinese person nearby and thought about seeking help. It turned out that the person was Fu Yun Shen's assistant, who was initially willing to help. However, Fu Yun Shen directly refused. After Chen Le, Fu Yun Shen's assistant, got off the plane, he tried to call the person who was supposed to pick them up. However, their call couldn't get through, so they had to take a taxi by themselves. Chen Le noticed that Fu Yun Shen was feeling a bit hot, so he helped by using a fan. Just as a taxi arrived, Zhu Jiu was about to get in when Chen Le approached him, hoping to share the ride. Initially, Zhu Jiu had a favorable impression of Chen Le and was about to agree, but when she saw Fu Yun Shen behind him, she naturally refused.
Fu Yun Shen then offered to pay for all the taxi fares, which made Zhu Jiu somewhat tempted. However, she stated that she had one condition: for both of them to take a photo holding their passports for her. Fu Yun Shen was initially reluctant, but Chen Le kept persuading him. In the end, Fu Yun Shen reluctantly agreed, and they took a photo holding their passports. Only then did Zhu Jiu allow them to join her in the shared ride. Later on the way, they discovered that they were staying at the same hotel. Both Zhu Jiu and Fu Yun Shen didn't want to acknowledge each other.

After Fu Yun Shen finished packing, he made a video call to his brother. In fact, both Fu Yun Shen and Fu Xizhou had a girl who constantly pursued them, so they often joked about it. The next morning, Fu Yun Shen was about to leave when he saw Zhu Jiu standing by the roadside. He deliberately went over to show off, but Zhu Jiu found Fu Yun Shen very childish. Zhu Jiu quickly arrived at the public welfare clinic and distributed candies to the children. When her uncle saw Zhu Jiu, he was very happy. After a brief chat, her uncle told Zhu Jiu about the situation there. This time, she was going to the border, but it was unsafe for a girl to go alone, so they found someone to accompany her, and unexpectedly, that person turned out to be Fu Yun Shen, who was on a business trip.
Zhu Jiu insisted that she could go to the border alone, but her uncle disagreed. Chen Le thought it would be good to go with Zhu Jiu, as it would be like having a traveling doctor with them. Her uncle also tried to persuade Zhu Jiu and assured her that Fu Yun Shen must be a good person, and many of the medicines they provided were from him. In the end, Zhu Jiu agreed, and the three of them prepared to set off. Before departure, Zhu Jiu and Fu Yun Shen had another argument. It can be said that the two of them were on bad terms.
Early the next morning, shortly after they set off, their car broke down unexpectedly, and they had to rest on the way. Fu Yun Shen seemed calm and relaxed, standing there with an umbrella. Chen Le hadn't fixed the car yet, and Fu Yun Shen couldn't stand it anymore, so he took matters into his own hands.
