Episode 9 recap: Fu Yun Shen managed to suspend the project.
When Zhu Jiu was alone at night, looking at the toy in her hand, Fu Yun Shen approached. Oscar's family was very saddened, as they never expected to lose their own life due to an illness. Zhu Jiu sometimes felt very powerless, as she saw her inability to save someone's life as a great failure. Fu Yun Shen understood how sorrowful Zhu Jiu was and helped wipe away her tears. He mentioned that he also wanted to help those children, but he had his own mission to fulfill. Zhu Jiu began to understand him a bit, and Fu Yun Shen expressed that they needed her there, so she must not give up.
After General Jiang learned that his son hadn't returned, he became very angry. Fu Xizhou explained that he still had unfinished business there, which made his grandfather angry as well. After distancing Fu Xizhou, the grandfather asked his wife about whether Fu Yun Shen was suitable to be the heir. General Jiang naturally believed his son was very suitable, but that was not the case. The grandfather had long known that Fu Yun Shen didn't care about that position at all. He focused more of his energy on research and development. General Jiang had nothing to say and had to leave.
Fu Xizhou received a phone call informing him that his mother's condition had worsened. He hurriedly went to check on her, but she was already a bit confused and even mistook him for his father.
Because Fu Xizhou's mother was never recognized by the Fu family and even divorced her husband later on, her mentality completely changed, and sometimes she would even do things that hurt her son. Fu Xizhou could only bear it silently in his heart. The grandfather bought Fu Xizhou a delicious cake, and although he loved it very much, he always ate it cautiously.
Fu Xizhou's mother still resides in a mental hospital, and the doctors have informed him that in order to improve her condition, he must understand the underlying cause of her illness. His mother used to constantly paint portraits of his father in her room, suggesting that his father might be the root cause of it all. Fu Xizhou sought out the director of the mental hospital and reviewed all of his mother's medical records. He discovered that his mother had been transferred from another mental hospital, but the doctors there had provided limited information. The director only knew the other doctor's name and shared it with Fu Xizhou.
Zhu Jiu handed Oscar's ring to his wife. Although her husband had passed away, she remained resilient and determined to fulfill his dreams. Zhu Jiu went to find Fu Yun Shen at night, and Fu Yun Shen happened to be near a lamppost. He invited Zhu Jiu to join him in climbing to a higher place, initially reluctant, Zhu Jiu eventually agreed due to Fu Yun Shen's persistent invitation. They sat together on top and had a pleasant conversation. Fu Yun Shen comforted Zhu Jiu, encouraging her to see the world from a different perspective. Zhu Jiu expressed her regret of not bidding a proper farewell to her parents. They enjoyed each other's company, and Zhu Jiu couldn't resist listening to the sound of Fu Yun Shen's heartbeat.
The next morning, Gu Ruan Ruan informed Fu Yun Shen that his mother had collapsed and was admitted to the hospital. Fu Yun Shen had no choice but to return home. Before leaving, he wanted to say goodbye to Zhu Jiu, but she was busy with surgery. Thus, Fu Yun Shen had to leave without seeing her. When Zhu Jiu finished the surgery and rushed over, Fu Yun Shen was already by the helicopter. Zhu Jiu placed a bracelet on Fu Yun Shen's wrist, and they embraced each other. They parted ways with great reluctance, but they had their own tasks to fulfill, so they could only be separated briefly.
Through investigation, Fu Xizhou found the former attending physician of his mother, Lin Ye Long. Initially, Lin Ye Long had no intention of dealing with Fu Xizhou. However, when Fu Xizhou showed him a photo of a patient whom Lin Ye Long had previously caused to die, he stood up and spoke with him. From Lin Ye Long, Fu Xizhou learned that his mother's illness was caused by Fu Yun Shen's mother. Initially, Fu Xizhou's parents were in love, but due to the family's reputation and monetary reasons, they sent Fu Xizhou's mother, who was initially suffering from depression, to the mental hospital.
