Episode 1 recap: Lin Yan discovered her boyfriend cheating on her and was pushed off the rooftop.
Lin Yan (played by Yang Xue Er) had just woken up from her hospital bed when she heard the sound of men's leather shoes walking in the corridor. Terrified, she disregarded her injured foot and quickly escaped from the ward. Xiao Mo (played by Guo Jia Nan) entered the room and discovered that the bed was empty. He immediately hopped on his motorcycle and set off in pursuit.
Lin Yan was constantly worried about being caught, and by chance, she came across a car. Without considering the danger, she flagged it down and sought help from the scar-faced person inside the vehicle. To her surprise, the scar-faced person revealed a sinister smile and viciously grabbed Lin Yan by the neck, intending to end her life. In a critical moment, Xiao Mo arrived and rescued Lin Yan. However, she had already lost consciousness due to being choked.
A fight ensued between Xiao Mo and the scar-faced person. Armed with a knife, the scar-faced person relentlessly swung it at Xiao Mo. However, Xiao Mo's agility allowed him to dodge the attacks and ultimately defeat the seemingly strong scar-faced person. Lin Yan regained consciousness once again, only to find herself lying on a couch. Cautiously, she discreetly observed her surroundings and discovered Xiao Xiao, who was taking a shower. When she saw him about to come out, she quickly hid. However, there was nowhere to hide in the room. Lin Yan concluded that Xiao Xiao posed a threat to her and silently grabbed a knife from the table, attempting to stab him. Astonishingly, Xiao Xiao seemed to have eyes on the back of his head as he skillfully evaded Lin Yan's attack and pinned her down on the bed.
Three years ago, disregarding her late father's objections, Lin Yan believed that Ma Cheng Jun (played by Deng Jing Hong) truly loved her and wanted to marry him. Unexpectedly, she caught Ma Cheng Jun having an affair with her best friend, Wen Li Li, during an argument, and Wen Li Li pushed Lin Yan off the rooftop.
