Episode 16 recap: Wen Li Li took the blame for Ma Cheng Jun.
While Lin Yan was asleep, Xiao Mo received a message and had to go out for a while. As soon as he arrived, he was questioned about whether he had truly fallen in love with Lin Yan. The problem was that their backgrounds and social statuses were completely different. Xiao Mo didn't answer because he knew deep down that he had indeed developed feelings for her.
Wen Li Li was drinking alone and couldn't afford to pay for more drinks. The waiter had already refused to serve her any further. Lin Yan found Wen Li Li, which made Wen Li Li suspicious. She believed that Lin Yan had come to obtain evidence of Ma Cheng Jun's embezzlement of the Lin family's assets. Wen Li Li directly stated that she had evidence but would never give it to Lin Yan because she hated Lin Yan for being born into a wealthy family. Even though Lin Yan had been exceptionally kind to her, it couldn't erase her resentment. Lin Yan gave Wen Li Li some money, hoping that she could start anew. Wen Li Li finally relented and agreed to provide the evidence.
Using the partially true and partially false evidence provided by Lin Yan, Lin Yan and Xiao Mo painstakingly uncovered the evidence of Ma Cheng Jun's embezzlement of the Lin family's assets. They confronted Ma Cheng Jun at a board meeting, but to their surprise, Ma Cheng Jun was well-prepared. It turned out that after Wen Li Li had parted ways with Lin Yan that night, she immediately told Ma Cheng Jun that Lin Yan was investigating him. Ma Cheng Jun hadn't anticipated that Lin Yan would actually find useful clues from the evidence. He had no choice but to use Wen Li Li as a scapegoat, claiming that during the signing of those contracts, he was away on a business trip, and it was Wen Li Li who forged his signature. He even had surveillance footage as evidence. As Wen Li Li was being taken away, she struggled and cursed Ma Cheng Jun, but unfortunately, Ma Cheng Jun had covered his tracks completely, leaving Wen Li Li to regret her own foolishness.
I especially love the looks of the male and female leads! For dramas like this, it's important to carefully select actors who not only have good looks but also possess acting skills. The only thing I feel regretful about is that such a great drama should have been made into a regular-length TV series.
Each episode is too short, and it leaves me wanting more.
