Episode 9 recap: Lin Yan pursued Xiao Mo to avoid Ma Cheng Jun.
Upon seeing the photo of Ma Cheng Jun kissing Lin Yan's cheek, Xiao Mo immediately felt bitter and went to ask Lin Yan about the reason. To his surprise, Lin Yan behaved as if she didn't care at all and believed that a kiss was not a big deal. Xiao Mo couldn't help himself and leaned in to kiss Lin Yan. In response, Lin Yan slapped Xiao Mo on the spot and warned him to control his emotions towards her. She told him that if he offended her again, she would fire him.
Just as Lin Yan returned to her room, she found Ma Cheng Jun lying on her bed in pajamas, holding roses in his mouth, and professing his love to her. She immediately felt a headache. Ma Cheng Jun believed that they should have been a couple three years ago, and this time he didn't care whether Lin Yan wanted it or not; he was determined to have his way. Lin Yan struggled and triggered the alarm on her bracelet. Xiao Mo arrived in time and lifted Ma Cheng Jun off of Lin Yan, giving him a severe beating. Ma Cheng Jun was furious, thinking that it was a private matter between him and his girlfriend, Lin Yan, and that Xiao Mo shouldn't have interfered. Xiao Mo was about to continue the beating, but Lin Yan stopped him, and he reluctantly ceased.
Ma Cheng Jun arrogantly demanded that Lin Yan fire Xiao Mo. However, Lin Yan refused, stating that Xiao Mo was only protecting her. She said she wanted to go to sleep but couldn't stop tossing and turning in bed because images of Xiao Mo's gentleness and thoughtfulness kept appearing in her mind. With Ma Cheng Jun becoming more and more forceful, Lin Yan requested that Xiao Mo pretend to pursue her.
Xiao Mo had been deeply infatuated with Lin Yan for a long time, so when he heard her request, he couldn't help but be overjoyed. He reminded Lin Yan that if they were going to pretend, they needed to make it convincing and hoped that she wouldn't regret it.
