Episode 24 recap: Lou Yuan and Dong En finally become a couple.
Su Qi says that only people like them, who are obsessed with money, would do such things. He asks Lou Yuan if he thinks Wan Dong will protect him, but Su Qi believes he is overestimating Wan Dong's loyalty. Lou Yuan thinks that their company, San Jiao, has been competing with Mudan Corporation for many years, always on the defensive. He believes they need to change their strategy and go on the offensive.
Xie Yi informs Lou Yuan that Dong En is in trouble, and Lou Yuan rushes upstairs. Lou Yuan instructs Zheng Chao to leave the recording device behind and tells him to leave first. Lou Yuan's mother doesn't understand why he doesn't take Dong En to the police station. Lou Yuan explains that Zheng Chao will inform them of the situation, and there must be someone behind the scenes trying to help Su Qi by using them. If they actually take action, it would play into the hands of that person. By letting Zheng Chao go, the person behind the scenes will realize that things didn't go as planned and might reveal themselves.
Lou Yuan's mother agrees with his reasoning and allows him to handle the situation. Wang Zi Jian comes over to inspect the raw materials, and Lao Ban mentions that a batch of beef is about to arrive. They have been long-time partners, so if Wang Zi Jian wants it, Lao Ban will reserve that batch of beef for him. Wang Zi Jian agrees and says they will follow the usual practice of paying and delivering simultaneously.
Su Qi tries to find investors, but the person who was previously interested rejects him upon learning that he has left Wan Dong. Lou Yuan calls Su Qi over and shows him the recording device. Su Qi doesn't seem surprised and says he is willing to take responsibility for what he has done. However, now he wants to go after Wan Dong.
Dong En says that he has helped Wan Dong a lot and has some evidence in his possession. He proposes that Lou Yuan works together with him to bring down Wan Dong, and he hands the recording device to Lou Yuan. Lou Yuan agrees.
Zheng Chao tries to escape but is intercepted by Su Qi's men. Su Qi says that only people like them, who are obsessed with money, would do such things. He asks Zheng Chao if he really believed that Wan Dong would protect him, indicating that he was mistaken. Zheng Chao mentions that he still has a lot of information.
Lou Yuan and the others gather together, and Lou Yuan expresses his belief that San Jiao has been on the defensive against Mudan Corporation for too long. He thinks it's time to go on the offensive. Su Qi arrives and brings a map of a warehouse, saying that he knows the security personnel there and can help them deal with the guards. He suggests they disguise themselves as warehouse workers to enter and gather evidence.
The people from Wan Dong recognized Lou Yuan and allowed Ke Mao Xu and the others to go over. However, when Ke Mao Xu checked, they found that the meat was all fine. Lou Yuan believed that Su Qi had no reason to deceive them and remembered Wang Zi Jian mentioning a batch of beef earlier. He quickly went over.
Indeed, Wan Dong was there, planning to use Mudan Corporation to transport the batch of zombie meat. If something went wrong, they could shift the blame to Mudan Corporation. Wan Dong urged everyone to quickly move the beef, but Lou Yuan and his team had already arrived and captured the evidence.
The police also arrived and arrested the people from Wan Dong. They paid the price for their actions. Lou Yuan wanted to buy a ring but didn't know Dong Dong En's ring size, so he secretly measured it and came back. Ellie's company proactively approached them for cooperation, and Ke Mao Xu assigned Xie Yi to handle the coordination, fulfilling Xie Yi's dream.
Xie Yi was extremely excited to meet his idol and could barely speak coherently. Zhen Zhen also returned to the company and asked if Dong Dong En was willing to let her stay. Dong Dong En agreed, and now Zhen Zhen could take charge on her own. Dong Dong En asked Xie Yi for a favor and told him about her plan.
Lou Yuan prepared the ring and waited downstairs for Dong Dong En. Unexpectedly, Xie Yi hurriedly came over and informed Lou Yuan that Dong Dong En was in trouble. Lou Yuan quickly rushed upstairs. Dong Dong En had already set everything up and was holding the ring, planning to propose to Lou Yuan.
Lou Yuan said that he was also prepared and took out the ring he had bought. Dong Dong En and Lou Yuan exchanged rings and embraced each other lovingly. (End of the drama)
It's the grand finale, and although it seems like a sweet urban romance drama, it constantly breaks away from the clichés. Dong Dong En's customer service persona, even the slightest deviation, makes people feel uncomfortable.
However, Xu Lu's portrayal is just right, presenting us with an ordinary person's positive attitude towards life and self-choice, which is fantastic. Wei Zhe Ming's performance as the domineering CEO is also different from the usual "sauce boss" raised by his mother.
Despite his high status, he remains down-to-earth, setting the tone for their relationship. In short, after finishing this drama, my mood is incredibly uplifted.
This is the most enjoyable drama I've been watching recently. It's not a typical sweet and naive storyline, nor is it about a domineering CEO. The female lead is intelligent and ambitious, while the male lead is gentle and understanding.
They both grow together. The plot is not dragging, and it's really worth watching.
It's a rare heartwarming drama that doesn't indulge in excessive emotional torment, and that deserves praise. I was generally satisfied with the first 20 episodes, but the later episodes felt rushed, and many things weren't portrayed clearly.
Personally, I don't think it was necessary to include the business rivalry plotline. This type of drama doesn't really shine when it comes to business-related conflicts. It's meant to be a light and enjoyable idol drama, so there's no need to force the portrayal of a typical villain.
If the episode count could be extended to 30 and the characters further developed, with more emphasis on the emotional aspects, it would be even better. In any case, flaws don't overshadow the merits.
It's a rare and relaxing drama that can put you in a good mood.
