Episode 5 recap: Dong Dongen and Lou Yuan are rumored to be in a romantic relationship.
Dong Dongen approached Zhu Li to inquire about when the deposit for their advertising project could be approved. They mentioned that their company was relatively small and didn't have the same resources as Mudan's large enterprise, and they were currently facing some financial difficulties. Zhu Li explained that Lou Yuan had recently taken over the company, and there had been several personnel changes, resulting in slower processing times. Zhu Li suggested that Dong Dongen should personally ask Lou Yuan about the deposit.
Rumors about a romantic relationship between Lou Yuan and Dong Dongen have been circulating within the company. Many people believe that Dong Dongen is favored by Lou Yuan, who is seen as the company's "boss lady." As a result, everyone is willing to help Dong Dongen with anything they need. Dong Dongen bought a cake for Lou Yuan, who pretended not to care but ate it as soon as Dong Dongen left. Wang Zi Jian saw this and wanted a piece as well, but Lou Yuan didn't give him any. Dong Dongen tried to ask the finance department for money but was ignored. The finance department believed that Dong Dongen was using their connection with Lou Yuan to climb the corporate ladder and refused to release the funds. Dong Dongen had no choice but to leave empty-handed.
Hai Mei is now focused on her career and is hosting events for a social club. She asked Dong Dongen to come and support her at one of the events, and Dong Dongen agreed. Initially, Dong Dongen thought of it as a gesture of support for their friend, but unexpectedly, Lou Yuan and the others were also being entertained by Zhang Zong at the same hotel. Lou Yuan initially didn't want to attend, but upon hearing that Dong Dongen was present, they decided to join. The social club was filled with many people, but Lou Yuan's attention was solely on Dong Dongen.
In front of Dong Dong En was a small vendor selling bracelets, claiming to be there to make friends but actually promoting their products. Cao Ya encountered an extremely arrogant person who wanted the woman to pay for the house and car while expecting the man to quit his job and take care of the household. Cao Ya found this behavior detestable and responded without hesitation.
When it was time to change seats, Dong Dong En and Lou Yuan ended up sitting together and took the opportunity to discuss work. Towards the end of the event, Hi Mei had a lucky draw where one person would invite someone of the opposite sex to have a hand mask treatment. Hi Mei drew Lou Yuan's name, and he invited Dong Dong En to join him. Unexpectedly, A Yi took an interest in Wang Zi Jian and frightened him, so he quickly asked Cao Ya for help.
Lou Yuan took Dong Dong En aside and asked about the rumors circulating in the company. Dong Dong En hastily stated that she had nothing to do with them. Lou Yuan accepted Dong Dong En's apology and learned that they hadn't paid the down payment yet. He called the finance department to inquire about the situation. The finance department personnel believed that Dong Dong En was pretending to be "Lao Ban Niang" and deceiving others. Lou Yuan did not explain but instructed the finance department to make the down payment to Dong Dong En first.
Wang Zi Jian had been concerned about Lou Yuan and Cao Ya's relationship, always trying to play matchmaker for them. He thought they were originally a couple and now they were working together, so it would be suitable for them to get back together. Cao Ya couldn't stand Wang Zi Jian's interference and suggested that maybe she and Wang Zi Jian were a good match instead. Hearing Cao Ya's words, Wang Zi Jian became frightened and quickly found an excuse to slip away.
After work, Dong Dong En returned to the studio and discussed the project with everyone. Ma Cheng Shu learned that Hi Mei had broken up with her boyfriend and started scheming. Ma Cheng Shu was Hi Mei's ex-boyfriend and still hadn't gotten over her. Su Qi discovered that Wang Zi Jian and Cao Ya were like right-hand and left-hand to Lou Yuan. Su Qi initially wanted to bribe them, but what Su Qi didn't know was that the three of them were good friends and not susceptible to his bribery attempts.
