Episode 6 recap: Lao Zhao has been transferred to a hospital run by Japanese people.

Chen Ke Hai went to the morgue to inform his fellow Communist Party comrades that coming here to conceal their identities was an insult to their intelligence. The comrades sensed the implication and suspected that Chen Ke Hai was not one of them. Just as Chen Ke Hai was leaving with the comrades, the person who had feigned death suddenly sat up. Li Tang and Instructor Jin began interrogating the Communist Party comrades, aiming to break their will and frame them for treason, in order to make them reveal whether Chen Ke Hai was one of them.

Chen Ke Hai discovered from the documents that Lao Zhao's calluses on his hands were caused by prolonged gun handling, and he also had a smoking habit. The organization had designed a perfect cover for him, but this detail exposed the flaw. At this time, Fang Li was invited by another department for a meeting, leaving Chen Ke Hai alone to conduct the interrogation. It was specifically requested by Fang Li because the student protests were getting out of hand and he needed Fang Li's help. Chen Ke Hai intentionally sent away the others to buy cigarettes and questioned Lao Zhao about how disguising their identities was an insult to their intelligence. By using the word "them," Lao Zhao became suspicious that Chen Ke Hai was not part of their group. Chen Ke Hai didn't directly state that he was not one of them but rather emphasized that becoming a demon or a Buddha was just a thought away. Just as Chen Ke Hai was leaving the interrogation room, the person disguised as a dead body sat up, capturing their conversation on tape. During the night, Chen Ke Hai was followed by someone, while his subordinates handed the audio recording to Fang Li. Fang Li interrogated Lao Zhao overnight, while Chen Ke Hai remained under surveillance.

Fang Li trusted no one and wrote two letters—one to the organization regarding Lao Zhao and the other as a farewell letter to his family. If Lao Zhao confessed honestly, the letter accusing him of betraying the organization would be withdrawn. Fang Li demanded that Lao Zhao reveal whether Chen Ke Hai was one of them. Afterwards, Fang Li left with everyone, while Chen Bin stood by the window, secretly pleased with himself.

Fang Li returned to the villa and tested Chen Ke Hai. However, Li Tang didn't believe that Chen Ke Hai was Lao Zhao because Lao Zhao bit him when he realized he was a newcomer.

Chen Ke Hai casually ate his Western meal and showed no interest in guessing Fang Li's riddle. Finally, Fang Li got to the point, and Chen Ke Hai guessed that he was the person revealed by Lao Zhao.

Chen Ke Hai used the methods taught to him by his instructor to make Lao Zhao think he was Lao Zhao, thereby obtaining information. However, Fang Li's impatience had ruined the plan.

Fang Li realized his mistake when the fork fell, making it necessary for Chen Ke Hai to accompany him to give a statement. Chen Ke Hai directly took handcuffs from Fang Li's pocket and put them on himself, agreeing to go to Unit 76 with him.

Lao Zhao was surprised to see Chen Ke Hai still alive. Since Chen Ke Hai was a Communist, Lao Zhao demanded that he reveal his identity information, but Lao Zhao knew nothing about Chen Ke Hai's background.

Just as Lao Zhao was getting excited and about to have a heart attack, Chen Ke Hai promptly gave him medicine. Chen Ke Hai handed the medicine to Fang Li to inspect, demonstrating his innocence.

Due to the conditions of the prison cell and an infected wound, the doctors suggested transferring Lao Zhao to the hospital for treatment.

Chen Ke Hai saw that Fang Li disagreed and had someone arrange a room with a better environment. It was crucial to ensure that Lao Zhao didn't die. Lao Jin informed Fang Li of the investigation results, confirming that the medicine was fine and the pharmacy was a reputable establishment.

To avoid suspicion, Chen Ke Hai returned to the office alone when Fang Li left. Under pressure from the mayor, Fang Li handed over the interrogation of Lao Zhao entirely to Chen Ke Hai. Lao Zhao was transferred to the military hospital.

Chen Ke Hai had his subordinates check all the exits, and he finally made contact with the undercover comrades stationed in the hospital. Chen Bin came to inquire about the results of Lao Zhao's interrogation and was surprised to learn that Chen Ke Hai was not a suspect but was in charge of the interrogation.

Lao Duan believed that Chen Ke Hai's risky strategy of making Lao Zhao confess voluntarily was too dangerous. Chen Ke Hai could only approach Lao Zhao again by using his suspected identity. Lao Zhao also came from Yan'an and knew that two cigarettes represented the moment to seek rescue from undercover comrades.

Fang Li discussed the events before and after the interrogation with Lao Jin, and Lao Jin began to suspect the significance of the two cigarettes.

Lao Duan nagged Chen Ke Hai, urging him to drink more water, less alcohol and coffee, and it was time for him to leave. Fang Li brought red wine to the hospital to apologize to Chen Ke Hai, who mocked Fang Li for using the trick of giving a sweet date after slapping someone.

Fang Li received a notification that a bed was available at the Japanese military hospital, and he decided to transfer Lao Zhao there, changing the original plan.

Fang Li asked Chen Ke Hai to accompany him to Ma Shi Zhang's inauguration party that night. Chen Ke Hai initially didn't want to go, but Fang Li insisted that it was an opportunity to meet influential figures from various sectors.

Chen Ke Hai specifically selected a suit and discovered a telephone in the inner room. Since he had decided to attend the party, he chose a white suit for Fang Li and quickly made a phone call to inform Lao Duan while Fang Li went to try on the clothes.

Fang Li called Chen Ke Hai several times but received no response. When he went to the inner room, he found the telephone, but Chen Ke Hai walked out of the fitting room.

In the middle of the night, Lao Zhao woke up the person monitoring her and said she needed to go to the bathroom. She intentionally bumped into a nurse pushing a cart of miscellaneous items.
